Hi patsys girl and welcome.
I am so sorry to hear about
your mom.:( That sounds extrememly traumatic for her.
It is not unusual for someone to experience panic episodes after a health scare. Not only is it very unexpected and frightening, but your mind and body are at a weakened state, which gives oppurtunity to anxiety (and/or depression).
Also, your mom may be dealing with feelings of mortality, losing her independence and loss of security about
her health all at this time.
One other thought is that you should consider are any new medications that she may be taking...it could be something as simple as that, so check the side-effects of all of her meds.
Most likely though, the anxiety is from the things connected to her health scare and surgery. I would take her to talk to her doctor about
treatment options. Medication and therapy are both widely used to relieve anxiety and panic...she does not have to go on feeling this way!
Also tell her that she is welcome to post with us here. We are a group of friends that understand, care and support each other!
Wishing you both the best!
