Hi guys. We had to fly from NJ to Dallas for my daughters cheer competition on Thursday. I had a huge panic attack on the plane. Shocked my confidence in recovery big time. We are here till Monday morning and I feel like I am just anxious. Feel my heartbeat all the time it feels like and have much health anxiety. Like I am waiting either for the next panic attack for something else health related. I guess the increase in Paxil was not the saving thing I really hoped it would be, it has been a month. Won't dare mention it to my husband as he will get mad and not understand at all. I want to have fun. I really do. I keep saying I am ok but what if I am not? My can I keep feeling my heartbeat?..

Hi Gizmofab,

I am new to the forum. Sorry that happened on the plane! You are very brave to take the trip - I have traveled all over the world but haven't been on a plane since I started getting my 'episodes', panic attacks, dizziness, whatever it is that I get. I had a panic attack last time I flew - 2 years ago - and now the idea of being on a plane terrifies me. It's also hard when you know it will just annoy your husband to let him know what's going on. I don't have much good advice, just wanted to let you know you are not alone, distract yourself as much as possible and enjoy your daughter... and post here when you need. You will get through this and be glad you were there for her competition! And I have hope that it won't always be this hard! I have a family member that had severe panic attacks and doesn't any more, so I'm hoping for the same. In the meantime, hugs and be extra kind to yourself even if no one else is... you are doing a brave thing.

Hi gizmo,

I am sorry that you are having trouble at the moment. It is understandable however!

Look at all of the challenges that you are facing on top of your anxiety, which is already a force to be reckoned with!

You are dealing with travel stress, unknown places, break from your routine...as well as making sure that your daughter has everything that she needs...

Be patient with yourself, your Rx and your recovery process.;) There are bound to be challenging times and even setbacks...especially during a time such as this trip.

I enjoy travel now...but I know that at the peak of my anxiety, it was really tough (DisneyLand 2005 NOT the happiest place on earth!!! Lol!)

Getting back home and into your routine again will allow you to decompress and get back on track.

Great job on getting out there and doing what you needed to do. We are cheering YOU on!

S.C.

Hey Gizzy that DFW airport is something isnt it?
I live in this area use to have to fly in and out, couldnt wait for the refreshment cart, two double jack&ice.

You should give yourself a pat on the back, you forced yourself to do something that is terrifying to many of us and thousands in the general population that dont have our problems, your a tough cookie and your Family is very fortunate to have you. The recovery therapy I use to go to had some short positives one of them was, "make your muscles move, do anything positive, and when you accomplish anything self endorce yourself". You just got on a plane, they would'nt let you fly and made yourself trust the pilot.
Pretty special girl, I promise you someday you will look back and be amazed!
