Sometimes we need something to just shut down the mental computer, xanax does it for me and like you 30 pills last at least 4 months. Sometimes these Dr's need to have a little courage to back up their diploma.
You dont strike me as a person who would use these meds unless you were exhausted.

Hey Kiddo. If your doctor is concerned about you becoming addicted perhaps you could ask for a low dose prescription of 10 pills. I wouldn't think you would become addicted at a low dose with just a few pills. Explain you just want a few to help you through this phase of testing and diagnosis. My thoughts and prayer are with you.

Hey, they give scrips for nitro to be used as needed, why not our kind of meds?
