Hi Misty,

I am so sorry. This is not way to start off the day, I know. I used to feel similarly, and it can create a negative tone for the rest of the day.

Have you tried using some coping skills before even getting out of bed? I found this helpful. Breathing and progressive muscle relaxation...using positive mantras and visualization, and writing a gratitude list in my journal...ect.

Combating the negative with positive can 'restart' the day for you.

I no longer have these issues when waking, so have faith that as you progress in your anxiety management...things will get better!

Sending positive thoughts you way.:)

Itry to keep my self busy but I am all ways tired. I am on prozac ativan and seroquel. Do you know what seroquel is? Misty.

M.,

Yes, these are common anxiety symptoms. It is a psysilogical response to fear. This is a silly example, but think about all of the cartoons, where the charatcters shake and tremble when they are frightened!

Know that as you progress in your anxiety treatment, these symptoms will fade.

Here are a couple of other things that I thought of...especially if you are stuggling with this issue in the mornings.

Have you cut our caffeine? You may need to stop drinking coffee/tea/soda in the mornings if you have not done so already.

Do you eat breakfast? Low blood sugar can exacerbate the shakiness that you are experiencing. So even if you have to force it...try to get in a good protein and complex carb in the a.m.!

Here is a site that has excellent coping skills. You many find that trying a new one brings some relief...take a look.

I remember feeling like that when I first started having anxiety too. It helped me to have a glass of water by my bed. I used to slowly drink a glass of water and breathe deeply. The water helped me rehydrate and that took care of my shaky sick feeling. I would also suggest breakfast for your blood sugar level. It could just be a piece of toast or a banana. Also you might want to try taking vitamin D supplements and vitamin B supplements. I don't know what part of the world you are from, but here in the Northeast USA almost everyone is vitamin D deficient and it can cause aches and pains and tiredness. vitamin B helps with energy.

Misty,

Yes I did feel the way that you described. It is a common/normal/expected symptom of anxiety.

Try using this mantra to neutralize the fear of this feeling:

"I am okay, it is just anxiety making me feel this way."

I hope that this helps remind you that while anxiety can make us feel sick/like something is very wrong...it is just a sensation that will pass as we do our best to accept it, and further learn to manage our anxiety.:)
