Common fear, I know. Had it before, having it again, gah! Been on Pristiq for a month. Not giving me the results I need so Pdoc added generic Wellbutrin 100mg yesterday. He obviously knows I have anxiety and depression but thinks my depression is more prevalent and I can't say I disagree. Been fighting this fight since February so yes, I am depressed at the struggle lol.

Anyone have good success adding Wellbutrin to an AD? I've never taken it before. I know everyone is different. My fear is it making me worse, ie: the root of why I'm afraid of taking it!

Lord have mercy on all of us! This battle is for the BIRDS! I have faith though but some days are harder than others. I'm sick of being a scaredy cat! I wanna be like the folks who just pop the pill their doc gives and get on with it lol!

Thanks for listening!!!

You're right, it is a common fear.

I want to extend to you that I understand. I've had allergic reactions and/or negative side effects to so many meds (my list of allergies is very long), that yes, it does take its toll on us and yes it does wear us down. We get afraid to try anything new.

But one thing to keep in mind is that you are being monitored and if you do have a worsening of symptoms, you inform your doc and get off the med! (I remember being told to suck it up when I was on gabapentin after my back surgery and the docs weren't paying attention to me....my face swelled up, my throat and my arms, had difficulty swallowing and breathing, felt lethargic! It took me getting frustrated enough to stand up for myself and yes, my doctor did d/c it).

Point is, here I am! I've been through it, I know the fear, and yes I've had some complications. But guess what? On other meds, I've also been just fine! :)

So that happens too! Keep the faith, give it a shot, and if it doesn't work you can always stop.

(Hey, that almost rhymed!)

I tried Wellbutrin for a short time but it caused me to feel very jittery, shaky hands, restlessness and dizziness.

That does not mean this is not a good drug and it may work wonderfully well for you.

Let us know how you are feeling?

My pdoc also prescribed it for me about two weeks ago and I still haven't taken it. I want to, but I don't want more anxiety feelings again.

Thanks for the support :-). I remember hearing scary stories & having fears abt taking Cymbalta 6 years ago. I was so scared that I went & stayed with my parents for the week I started it (and I'm married lol)!

Cymbalta ended up working fabulous for me until it pooped out after 6 years earlier this year.

Anyway, thx for helping me through this, as always. I really appreciate it!

My pdoc is also a pharmacist so I trust him. I have to. Sooooooo with that being said, w/the encouraging of hubby, & texts from friends (one of which is a friend I've met right here through these forums!) who said "just take it!" I took the dang pill. I want to be well. I know I need a med to get there. I know I don't have to suffer but must be willing to try. My anticipatory anxiety has ALWAYS been worse than anything I've ever feared. If I don't try, I won't know.

So, bottoms up! I took it (& a Xanax) lol!

Thank you for the support & comments. I'll keep it updated.

xoxoxo

Hi, Lisa,
I don't wanna be a "Debbie Downer", but I was tried on wellbutrin 2x and both times it increased my anxiety level considerably.
But my pdoc was a butt and was anti-benzos, so no xanax for me.
I wish you well. I agree wholeheartedly that you should take it and see! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! I remembered that I held off from trying my natural remedy of Taurine for my anxiety. I was having a very bad morning one time and my Mom asked me if there was ANYTHING I could do that I hadn't tried?!?! I mentioned the Taurine and she said for me to get it and take it!! So I did and within a few minutes I started to feel less anxious!
So you see, you never know unless you try it!
I hope the wellbutrin does the trick for you!

Haha Debbie downer! If any of us want a good laugh, we should watch a Debbie Downer clip on YouTube. Hilarious stuff right there.

I remember ppl saying Cymbalta increased anxiety when I started it and i was thinking "my God, why is this Pdoc prescribing this?" But I took it and it quelled both the anxiety & depression. I hope this too is just what I need.

Thanks for your support everyone. Janetlee feel free to email me anytime too :-)

Sending peace & hope to all of us!

Hey...I resemble the Scaredy Cat remark in the 1st post of this thread, Lol!! ;p

I hope that you can come to a decision...and one that you feel at peace with in regards to the Wellbutrin Rx.

My niece found this to be a really helpful med for her....but you will ultimately just have to find out for yourself if you decide to give it a try.

We support you in any decsion you make!

Hi Lisa,

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that you are not alone. I actually started a thread about my having anxiety about taking new meds. I don't know why my anxiety is so high around taking new meds. I always have to research them before I take them and still hesitate. I worry about the side affects or about it causing a totally new illness. I think all those commercials about lawsuits if you've taken a particular med and had certain side affects stay on my mind too.

But I do realize that each med affects each person in different ways. What might have a bad side affect on 10 different people might not affect you at all.

I also try to tell myself that I won't know if it will work or give me some relief or even side affects unless I'm willing to give it a try. There are certain meds I don't want to try just because I've heard bad things about them like bad side affects or addiction but my psychiatrist told me that I need to be willing to give something a try if I want to feel better and not rely on what reaction or experience someone else had she said I need to have my own experience so 'm working on learning that.

I'm glad you were able to take it and I'm glad you have support. I'm hoping you're feeling a little better.

Sending hugs your way in case you need them.

Thank you Heartfeltone. And everyone..

Sometimes the TMI of commercial and googling only make my fears worse. It's actually part of my therapy homework to NOT google. I try really hard and am becoming more aware if when I do it. It's challenging when I have a smart phone practically glued to my hand lol. I love my iPhone but sometimes I've felt like tossing it in the pond bc somedays the temptation to google side effects/symptoms is just too much. The facts are: if you have a bad experience (with anything), you'll tell 10 ppl. If you've a good experience , you'll tell one. Soooo by me googling, I tend to only see horror stories of meds/conditions. NOT GOOD for someone like me. I now know it's a trigger and I'm becoming more and more aware to just STOP!

A dear friend (whom I've actually met from these forums), told me SHE'D do any googling I needed & she'd weed through the BS. lol! What a great idea and a great friend.

Anyway, thanks again all. Sending love & peace to every single one of you.
