So yesterday I went to the ER. Knowing full well that it is most likely my anxiety i went just to be sure. I've been on cipralex for 6 weeks. I've been getting these weird headaches on the front of my head or on one side of my head usually the left side. I've also since saturday have been feeling a weird feeling in the left side of my face. Like its heavy or something. Hard to explain. Sometimes i worry about it which leads to me panicking and feeling like im gonna pass out as well as some chest pain. Also feel sometimes i weird pain around my eye usually left but it also has done it on my right side as well. Anyways last night i decided to go to the ER just incase. I was in and out of the hospital in 40 min. (must be a record here in canada :P) he checked my nerves, looked to see if there was pain when he touched anywhere on my head/face, shut the lights off and looked at my eyes as well as some other tests. He said it doesn't appear to be any serious he's not quite what it could be but he can assure me its nothing serious to talk to my family doctor about. Anyways i see my doctor monday so i'm going to talk to her about it. I don't know if the cipralex is working or just making my anxiety worse.

Kalman,

I am so sorry to read of your increased anxiety and hope that you and your Dr. can make a decision on whether or not the med is helping you any?

I know how nasty it can be to start a new medication only to spend 6-8 weeks on  it without any improvement.  There are many medications out there for you to try so please do not despair.

I have been juggling meds for many years................when I finally get a good one I pray that it will work for a long time.

Remember to keep practicing your self help skills,

Kindly,

Kitt

Med side effects can be worse than the anxiety itself. I have also been on the med change dose change roller coaster and it sucks. Hang in there.

Kitt brings up a really important point that needs to be remembered. And by that, I mean I, too, need to remind myself of it....I've had adverse reactions to medications in the past. It happens.

But the thing to remember is that there are alternatives out there. If this turns out to not be the med for you, there are always other things to try!
