I know this is going to sound strange but I am hoping someone can relate. I would never wish this sensation upon anyone but it would be nice to know I'm not alone........
This happens to be in connection with my bowels / gut. It took a while for me to finally make this connection but I'm like 90% sure that it happens while my stomach is getting ready for a bowel movement. Even if you can't relate because you don't feel like it's connected to your bowels please keep reading. I've had this sensation for a very long time and only just recently have I been able to connect it to my stomach/bowels/ and the timing it starts after I eat.
I am trying to find someone who experiences this sensation prior to a bowel movement. I ran it by my doctor and she is saying that it's IBS related and considered a vasal vagal response. I disagree since this sensation doesn't occur while I'm straining, it's before I'm even going to the bathroom. It's a few minutes before I have to head to the bathroom. And, I also get the sensation even if I'm constipated. I will get the sensation, feel like I have to go, then unable to go and eventually the sensation goes away.
The best way I can describe it is just how I titled this post. I feel like my body is about to faint or shut down. I've never fainted, never lost consciousness, yet it truly feels like I'm going into a coma state. I know, weird! It makes me feel like I'm going to float into an unconscious state. I have had numerous tests done including tests on my brain, heart, and blood. I've had my blood pressure checked during this symptom and it's been fine. I've also found that this symptom can happen at night and right when I'm trying to go to sleep. My doctor also mentioned this as being related to my health anxiety. I do have a severe and long history of health anxiety, somatization, and panic disorder.
