I have a 30 year old daughter who has a serious problem with alcohol. She has demonstrated the desire to stop drinking, however, she can't go too long before withdrawal symptoms (that scare both of us) force her to take another drink, which leads to more drinking. Basically, she can't be sober for long and when she is sober, she is sick. The symptoms include : shakes, vomiting, seizures, weakness, pale skin, and she is barely able to get out of bed. When she drinks, she is unable to pace her alcohol intake and her symptoms include : hallucinations, abdominal pain, kidney pain, seizures, numbness, chest pain, confusion and suicidal thoughts. Her health insurance is limited as she is on Medi-Cal (California resident, and we are unable to find a medical detox for her. I receive SSDI so I'm not able to pay for treatment she needs. She is afraid she will die if she stops drinking and I don't want to lose my daughter. What options are there, if any? Also, she was a full time mother of 3 children, who no longer want their mommy to return home and the break up has had a huge impact on her self esteem. Depression, loss of ambition and no motivation are all part of her daily life.
