I used to struggle with this a lot. ..
...one good thing that comes with age, is a stronger sense of self, opinion...thinking. So this will improve for you in time, I believe.
A positive aspect of this is that you are clearly a listener, and also flexible in your outlook...and those are GREAT qualities!!
Some people are so head strong, that they neither listen, learn...and therefore never grow...:/
What you need to do now, is just work on standing firm in your own thoughts and opinions. ..and you'll have the best of both worlds!
Journaling is one way to practice conscientious thinking. You can write for example:"This is what I heard, and what they think. This is what I think."
The act of writing helps us to process our thoughts...
...and after a while, it will become more second nature and automatic!
Give it a try. To help get you started there is a link in our Resources if you are interested.
Peace and progress.

"Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles...it empties today of its strength."
