Ugh is vile. It's the worst feeling ever.

I've been dizzy for days following a tummy bug.

I suffer from ongoing chest pains which the doctor says is down to anxiety or maybe costochondritis or maybe fibromyalgia or maybe vitamin d deficiency basically he doesn't have a clue.

I also suffer from regular palpitations.

I woke up this morning and my chest was aching. I checked my pulse and it was 125bpm on waking. I took a beta blocker and pain killers and slept for a few hours.

I had a calm afternoon but then started moving around and I could feel my heart racing again. My chest aches through to my back. I took.another beta blocker and sat down. I'm OK when I sit still but as soon as I get up heart races again.

I'm scared sad

Hi JL,

I am sorry you are having a bad time today with the panic. sad I know it is miserable.

As hard as it seems, try to start, or keep doing your coping skills. They will help with time and continued effort.

If you need some new ideas, check our Resources...or rely on your favorite/practiced ones.

We understand how you are feeling and are here for you...so please post back soon and let us know how you are getting on, okay?

I can't see any end to this. All the things that have helped over the years are now just useless. I'm in so much pain. The dizziness is terrifying.

I'm always so logical about things nowadays and always find explanations for how I'm feeling but I don't know why I'm having this pain. I don't know why I feel so unwell and I feel like the doctors are just brushing it under the mat as it's 'only anxiety'

Hi JL,

I totally hear you and understand where you're coming from. Dizziness after a stomach illness is really common. Your body gets so thrown off, and I'm assuming you were laying down for the majority of your illness, which messes with equilibrium. I know it's uncomfortable, but it does go away.

Sometimes my heart pounds coming out from a sleeping state, too. There are various reasons for this that are completely benign, including an anxiety inducing dream that you don't remember having.

Anxiety is a cyclical thing...you feel a sensation, that sensation gives you anxiety, and then anxiety gives you anxiety. Try to remember, sensations more times than not, don't always mean symptoms.

Hang in there, and we're here for you!

I'm literally in a state of panic though.

Even panicking about going to sleep because I'm petrified of waking up in that state of panic again. I'm scared of the feelings. I'm scared there's something going on that the doctors can't be bothered to investigate.

I'm certain she's going to make me start the vitamin D again tomorrow and there's still a part of me that thinks that's what made me so poorly last week so I'm scared to take them.

Ugh I just want this to go away. I feel like I'm losing the last bit of Kelly that was there.

I have a really poorly daughter who I have to give 24/7 care for and that's all I want to do but this gets in the way. She's more like my carer now. darn this is all so wrong :'(

JL,

You are going through A LOT!! You have anxiety, pain, the Vitamin D issues...and the stomach virus...kids to take care of...

...I am exhausted just thinking about it all and typing this out!

You need a break. The anxiety is just cycling as Blu's mentioned...gaining size and speed like a snowball rolling down a hill.

I have experienced this myself, and it can be hard to break out of!

Do you have a rescue med you can use?

Like rescue remedy? I have that but since being on the lyrica I'm petrified to take anything.

I had a propranalol at about 6 as my chest was aching from tach so I won't dare have my bedtime one now. This all feels so hopeless sad

No, I meant a benzodiazepine or Hydroxyzine.

If you can't get out of this panic cycle with your coping skills....you may want to call your doctor about getting a small Rx for help.

Oh goodness,

Sending healing thoughts to both of you!

Are you having a broken sleep schedule like this every night? This is surely making your anxiety more of a challenge than usual.

Yes, ask about the possibility of a benzo or antihistamine. This can help with the panic/acute anxiety...but should still allow you to function and do what you need to do for your family, if taken at a low dose.

((((hugs))))

S.C

Her adrenals don't work so she doesn't make cortisol so I have to try to mimic the body's natural pattern. The 4am isn't all the time thankfully. Only when she's unwell so only a couple of nights with 4am and then back to midnight and 6am.

I will ask doctor again today about something to calm me down when it hits acutely

I've been to the doctors and suggested that when my symptoms first started I'd had to lift my daughter on my own from her wheelchair to the sofa. When I did it I felt something pop... just underneath my sternum.

I think I may have a hernia.

She wasn't as dismissive as I expected her to be. She has given me omeprazole for 2 weeks and said if symptoms carry on she will order an endoscopy. I told her all this a year ago though..... she's also given me a lower dose of vitamin d but said it will take much linger to get my levels up than if I took the 20,000u/I a day that they want me to have

Okay, well go along with her plan for now, and see how you do.

The incident after lifting your daughter sounds like it could be damaged cartilage in the ribcage/costochondritis related...so I wouldn't rule this out yet. It can take a long time to heal, especially if you are re-injuring the area by repeated lifting.

I hope you get the relief and answers you need soon. Be sure to continue with your anxiety management as well!

Talk soon,

S.C.

Thanks SC

I feel a bit calmer than I was yesterday. I long for the days when I could just play with the kids or jump on the motorbike and be free for an hour.

I want my life back sad
