Hello everybody

I've been feeling real down, my mother has been diagnosed with breast and bone cancer on Sep. 7 a day before her birthday. She's been in the hospital since that day and she doesn't look good it really hurts to see her like this and what's worse is that she can't get any insurance, because we don't know if she's a US citizen. She told us she was born in Mexico and taken away by my great grandmother when she was an infant that had made her a permanent resident but we never could find documents cause maybe my great grandma used another name. My mom has always been in the US, she wouldn't even know how to live in Mexico. I feel so worthless like I can't do anything for her and she that's she's not gonna have a chance to fight the cancer 😭

I am so sorry to hear about your mom's diagnosis. I know how difficult this must be for you.

If your mom has been a U.S. resident her whole life, she should be able to apply for Medicare. If she has held a job...she may qualify for social security or disability. Perhaps trying to find an immigration lawyer who would take on her case pro-bono?

For yourself...practice self help...and try to find a support group for caregivers as an outlet for your worries.

We are here for you as well...

Sending prayers for you both.

I'm going to try an immigration lawyer, because we have arrived at dead ends with SS and trying to get her BC. My mom has always been a house wife that's another thing, but she has lived and gone to school here all her life. I hurts to see my mom like this, she's just getting patched up in the hospital and we don't know how to get her help with her cancer. I will try to stay positive and strong for my mom and have hope.
