Hello everyone. I have been on Effexor 150mg daily for the last year. It stopped working for me, if anything i was becoming more anxious and depressed toards the end of its run. I moved and saw a new doctor who decided to switch me to Viibryd and do the gradual upward in dosage associated with it. HOwever she didnt taper me off of the effexor, she just stoped it and i started feeling it pretty much at the end of the first day without it. the brain zaps were really intense, then i strted becoming super irritable and annoyed. then i would cry over literally nothing. i also felt like i had the flu for like 4 days. now my stomach hurts and aches. the brain zaps have thankfully started to slow down and become less intense. however now im like super hungry and thirsty even though my stomach hurts. IVE been off effexor for 10 days now. how long til its out of my system?

anyone have similar experiences?

Effexor is one of the harder antidepressants to stop so it's best to slowly reduce the dosage to help avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Seeing as you have now stopped for 10 days I would tuff it out you should start to feel better in the next week or so but if you don't go back and speak with your GP.

It's the norm for things to be unsettled when starting a new medication and it usually take a couple of weeks for things to settle so stick with it.

I try not to worry about the future -- so I take each day just one anxiety attack at a time.
