Hi there. Hmmm mine was so so. I’m still having the hardest time finding the right medication. It’s like things change minute to minute with them. Even after doing the genetic testing to find the right one. I have tried so many. I had to go back down to 37.5 yesterday of Effexor XR due to increased horrible racy intrusive thoughts. Plus with doing TMS the dr. Doing it doesn’t want me starting/stopping new meds so often. I was only on 75 for 8 days.... I’m wondering if I should have stuck it out and give it more time. I’m feeling so defeated;( it’s been going on for almost a year. How much more can one person take. Does it take this long to find the right medication. The only one left to try is Paxil and I tried Prozac 25 yrs ago. Advice please???

Mel B and I have seriously the same stories! The past few days have been incredibly hard for me. I’ve been on Effexor xr and do ok sometimes but I’ve been having bad chest pains like I’m going to have a heart attack. I didn’t take it last night and today I am feeling it but feel better then I do with it. I am having the genetic testing done at the end of the month. I too feel incredibly defeated and just tired of living an anxiety ridden life. I had a counseling session yesterday and that went well. I did some breathing techniques on the computer which helped me learned more controlled breathing. So all in all it’s been tough but I’m trying to hang in there.
Panic Disorder & have a hard time tolerating antidepressants.

.25 of Alprazolam (I cut in quarters) as needed
Currently experimenting with Effexor XR 37.5 mg

Hey everyone,

I haven’t posted in years but I still check the forum weekly. I had my anxiety under control for two years through medication, meditation, and CBT. It took me two years to be stable and find the right med, so hang in there.

Lexapro worked for me but due to side effects(gained 45 pds) I felt that I was physically becoming unhealthy so I weaned off over the summer and haven’t had a pill since October. Well the last 2 weeks have been a living hell with my anxiety at about an 8 out of 10. Nothing is helping.

Starting Prozac this week and hoping I can work through it.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Panic attacks
Health anxiety
GERD
IBS

Lexapro - 20 mg daily
Klonopin - .5 mg 2x daily

Mel & Hopeful

It can take time to find the right medication or combination of medication which works for you so hang in there.

Hi everyone.

My anxiety is somewhat down right now. I'm inbetween college semesters right now and just relaxing before what I believe will be a busy semester.

I am in the process of finding the right medication to help take the edge off of my anxiety. I have made a separate thread about that topic.

Hi everyone.....in the same boat. Titrated slowly up on Lexapro...reached target dose of 10 mg 25 days ago and the doctor said give it 6 to 8 weeks from there. Well I had a few ups and downs along the way, but was really seeing a light at the end of the tunnel...in fact so much so that I felt I was on the right medicine and was finally having fun again. Then yesterday.... 3 mini panic attacks. I call them mini because they hit out of the blue, but start with a fright in the chest, trail down to the stomach make my feet hot and then starts going down within a minute. Today....5 of them by 9:30 this morning. I am so discouraged now since I really thought I was on a good run. Afraid to start over again. Anxiety is just so frustrating.
