I am very sorry to hear about
your experience and current challenge with flashbacks. These unpleasant memories/feelings usually are associated with trauma/PTSD.
Were you being treated for such? Is it possible that you are just having the negative memories in association with
your therapy that was taking you places that were difficult to deal with?
How was your relationship with the therapist? Any negative experiences that you can recall? It may not have been anything overt, but just a feeling of unease. It is really important to be comfortable with the person you are working with.
If possible, finding another therapist, one that makes you feel very safe, would be a good goal. You can hopefully work out where this trouble has its origins, and start moving forward with your anxiety management again.
