Sorry, but you (very anxious woman) are also misinformed.
If the doc who does the colonoscopy finds a polyp, he/she will remove it right then and there. Just a snip, and since you are anesthetized, you won't feel anything. The polyp will be examined later by a pathologist who will report whether it was cancerous.
Your thinking about
a bag (colostomy, presumably) is wrong.
I agree that the prep is no fun, but there are things that are a lot worse, like (colorectal) cancer.
