I am very much in Fibro flares and pain ,my living quarters is not in best kept state.

It’s not bad but not very well put either lately.

My maintenance crew entered apt recently and complained to manager abt this.
I have got warning.
is this legal or they just harassing me ,as they have come to know abt my health issues .
They enter and exit apt based on excuses and are very biased.

I have no money for legal experts or moving.
What is my best option?

Cilly,

In CA, where I live....I believe landlords have to give a 24 hour notice before entering your apartment/rental property. Check laws for your state regarding this...and if it is indeed 24 hrs, that would give you time to get things cleaned up and in order with compliance to the rules. Perhaps you can call a friend or family member to help you get things where they need to be so you won't be hassled any longer.

Wishing you the best with this...and hoping you get some relief from your fibro pain soon!

It would have to be in writing...offical warning. However they can advise the landlord..agree with sc get some help...you not need the hassle when in pain. I hear ya. Many healing thoughts.

I had a letter sent out right away as was very upset.

I have come to know that they have taken pictures of my visually unkept quarters without my permission as a matter of proof.
Is it even legal..in this day and age isn't it harassment and breach of tenant's privacy?
Is it even allowed.
Am I being victim of bias or this is regular and normal for landlords?

My building is quite big as has lots of tenants and quite rude leasing office~

I am very anxious about this and feel like leaving the quarters and pack up and find another building and get a loan from family to move.
I do not feel safe here anymore.
please advise.

Cillly,

Renters rights vary from state to state, so you will have to look up the laws for you area. I would also find your lease agreement, or ask for a copy if need be, so you know what you and your landlord are each responsible for as far as your individual rights/expectations.

Keep advocating for yourself and let us know how things are going soon.

Hi,

I did some reading on our states (Washington) tenant rights and laws. Below is what I found. And Yes, they have to give you plenty of notice. Look up your state and you can find out. If they come back tell them you've been advised that they have to give you _____ days notice before they may come in. They are pushing you around for whatever reason. They also can't kick you out easily especially since your health isn't good. Do a little reading and you can easily begin to defend yourself from these guys...I was going to say 'Thugs' because that's what they are acting like. My guess, and it's only a guess, is they are trying to find a reason to evict you and up the rent to the next tenant. There are lots of organizations who will give rent assistance and lawyers who will charge on a sliding scale. Just a thought...good luck.

Warmly,
Chutz.

I have made my plans to move as soon as I can ,I need to find a new place in my budget though which is increasing my anxiety levels.

If not I have talked to them and they know my hard feelings (no-one cares though).

They are gonna come back and see if housekeeping is upto their standards.

At THIS POINT do not want to get courts involved as I cannot deal with it.
