Hi Panesnope and welcome!
I am sorry that you are currently dealing with this worry. I can tell you that it is fairly common among HA sufferers...and yours is one of dozens of posts on this very topic that we see pretty regularly.
I can assure you that you are at zero risk of contracting Naegleria Fowleri from tap water in your shower. This organism is found only in warm fresh (untreated) standing bodies of water in isolated regions.
However, reading facts about
your non-risk may not help relieve you of your worries...because the root of the issue is Health Anxiety...and as we know, anxiety is not often rational.
So, I am going to recommend that you seek to treat your H/A. Talking to your doctor and discussing your options is a good place to start. Medication and/or therapy are the usual choices...
...and self help is something you can and should get started on right away! You can do this by checking out our Resources at the top of the main forum page here. We have links specifically for Health Anxiety...as well as Therapy Worksheets that will help diffuse your fearful thoughts.
Putting your time and energy into this will be better time spent than researching the amoeba that is not a threat to you!
