As long as your doctor has cleared you for exercising safely...honestly walking is the best place to start IMO.
It requires minimal equipment and no gym membership... (a good pair of trainers/walking shoes and some headphones for music, if desired is about
it)...and can be done pretty much anywhere or time that is convenient to you.
If the weather does not permit walking outside, you can easily get in some laps at the nearest mall! No reason to skip days.
Starting 3 times as week at a moderate pace for 20 min is a good beginning goal. Increasing your speed and duration as you build strength and aerobic capacity.
