Is this the first antidepressant you've taken? I'm also on Lexapro for a little over a week now. I did have some interrupted sleep but I attributed it to my anxiety more than the medication itself. I was on paxil before so I know you can't really tell how the medication will affect you unless you give it about 4 to 6 weeks. If your side effects become bothersome then discuss it with your dr. I hope your sleep returns to normal as you adjust to the medication.

R.D.,

A lot of dr.s prescribe taking meds at night time. Have you tried switching your dosage time to as early in the a.m. as possible?

Lexapro does tend to be activating for many people, so switching to a morning regimen might help. You will adjust in time...but that can certainly be a long couple/few weeks when you are not sleeping!

Best wishes on getting the rest you need...keep us updated so we can keep you encouraged!

Hi

Lexapro is a very activating so it's best to take it first thing in the morning to avoid sleep problems.

It is a very effective antidepressant so I hope it works well for you.

I have a problem with insomnia
Melatonin causes diarrhea
Klonopin also causes stomachs issues
Does cbt help and can anybody suggest a good one or any other suggestions?
I am desperate

Hi Sienna8,

I posted to you on the depression forum. Are you sure you don't have a sensitive stomach? You might want to talk to the doctor about it as it sounds like a lot of medications effect your stomach. Some of us do and have to be very careful of what we take. Or eat.

I hope you find what works for you.

Hugs, Karen...

Net says there is a product called Power to Sleep, which has Melatonin but less than the Melatonin sleep aid product.

Then net says there is a Power to Sleep PM which has no Melatonin.

I use Melatonin for sleep, along with my regular medicines for bipolar, and haven't had any problems. If I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep I can take another one.

My psychiatrist, and the net, says these products have not been tested, including for the long term over 3 months.
