Call ahead to local pcps and see if they will offer a payment plan. I had one for a while that would bill me at Medicare level price which is less than most insurance would charge for a visit and they billed me so I had a little time to pay it off. It wasn’t great for them I’m sure but I did appreciate the kindness. Many are willing to do payment plans. Might be a good idea either way to find a pcp that’s willing to work with you, that way if you ever have an issue you will know where to go and you might avoid an even more costly urgent care or ER bill. I personally feel like just the concept of not knowing who to turn to magnifies anxiety quite a bit.
