Hi Everybody
I just haven't been feeling myself . I almost feel like I'm outside my body and it's not me. I have anxiety and depression. I'm just not happy lately. I can't pinpoint what it is. I see my therapist every other week. I can't seem to snap out of it. I take Lexapro 20 mg a day plus Xanax as needed which I've been taking one a day to try to help. Does anyone else ever feel like they're in the wrong body when they are depressed? Thank you for listening.

When I'm very depress, I get numb.

Maybe, you need a higher dose or too try a new medication, depending on what doctor say.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Hang in there.

Hi JG,

Yes I have felt depersonalization/realization before. It is a really unpleasant experience, so I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with it currently.

Though it may feel like you are stuck in this state of being, you will feel like yourself once again. Using your coping skills will help, and likely you'll soon notice a turn around.

If you are still struggling in a week, then talking with your doctor/therapist about discussing your regimen might be a good step, since as ForeverPositive mentioned, you may need a med/therapy work evaluation.

The best thing you can try and do is accept this as part of the condition, and not attach further anxiety to the situation by fearing it. It is an uncomfortable but harmless symptom that will go away on its own, or is treatable.

Let us know how you are doing soon.

JG, since you're feeling depressed and anxious, maybe seeing your therapist more than once every two weeks would be a good idea.

It’s not uncommon for us to have these moments it’s recognizing them and talking about them that truly makes us feel better and not so alone. I hope you’re getting on better this week, day or moment....whatever it is you live your life in.
