Hello everyone, hi SC
Sorry it took so long for me to update here in the forum. I have been struggling with anxiety and panic attack lately for about 3months. Went to my doctor and prescribed me with Zoloft 50mg. Been in 2days with it. I don’t want to be addicted on it. I’m trying to do exercise as well. I will do everything to get better. Hopefully and praying I will be okay soon. My son needs me. I need to get better. I am not like this before. Everybody’s right, having a child and family is hard. But don’t get me wrong I enjoyed my son so much. It’s just that I am overwhelmed with everything.

Hi, Bik31.

Good luck with the Zoloft.

Exercise can be a great component to overcoming anxieties and panic attacks like you've been experiencing lately.

It can also help with depression, as exercising on a regular basis can give you the runner's high, as exercising can boost certain chemicals (neurotransmitters) in your brain, making you feel better.

Hi Bik

Welcome back but sorry to hear you have had a return of the anxiety.

The Zoloft should kick in soon and give you some relief so keep going with that it’s not addictive so don’t worry.

Have a look at our resources to remind yourself of some self help techniques.

Keep us posted.

The first psychiatric medication I was put on was back in 2000. The doctor prescribed 50 mg of Zoloft, just like what you're on now, Bik31.

It didn't work for me, but I hope it will work well for you Bik31.

I just did 20minutes of walking today, I sweat little bit. I’m on my 4th day of taking the Zoloft. So far I can sleep but sleep my anxiety still there. My heart beat is still racing and my BP is kinda high, 149/90 that’s the last time I check. They said if I’m nervous the bp goes high? Is that right? I talked to my husband that I wanted to look for a job. The more I stay in the house the more I think about what I feel. But I feel bad for the baby he is only 10months old. But I needed this to heal my self. I will try tomorrow to drive as well by myself. I stop driving for almost 2years. I’m overwhelmed with everything, new husband new house new place first time mom.

Bik,

Great job on getting the help that you need with your medication start up and continuing to get out and exercise when you can...

...as well as the lifestyle changes that you are starting to consider. If you feel that getting back to work will help you with your anxiety management, then that is the wise choice for you to make. Try not to let feelings of guilt add your stress. Ten months is good amount of time to dedicate to being your son's sole caregiver. (much longer than many can or do) It is important for you to take care of yourself, so that you can be the best mom possible. The carer has to first care for herself before she can do the best for those she cares for.

The medication that you are taking, as Hibee said is not addictive. Some mistakenly think so since it needs to be taken daily and must be weaned off of, but this is simply to improve performance and to avoid side effects of discontinuation. It may take some time to start to feel the benefit of you new medication. This is expected, and sometimes it seems the challenges can become worse before things get better, but this is temporary and usually results is an Rx that is a very helpful tool....so hang in there and don't get discouraged!

We are here to cheer you on, so please keep us updated on your progress!
