Is it okay to do exercise like cardio while taking Zoloft? And also can you take vitamins as well? I’m on my 6day I think with Zoloft. My heart is keep beating fast sometimes like I’m having a nervous breakdown. But everybody say that the effect of Zoloft is with in 4-8weeks. I want to calm my nerve down. I’m scared that I will end up having a nervous breakdown

Thank you guys

B.,

I am sorry this is tough atm...try to remember it is temporary...and that once you are through the start up period, you will be feeling better with improved anxiety management.

You will not have a nervous breakdown...and exercise will help manage the increased anxiety that you're struggling with. Keeping your cardio at a low, but sustained level, rather than trying to go for an intense workout will be best for you ...so make that a goal.

If your heart rate continues to concern you...give your doctor a call for reassurance.

Many people find cardio as something that calms them down and makes them feel happy, even if it's on a temporary basis. So I recommend it for you, Bik.

As for exercising with Zoloft, the net warns against this.

Drugs.com says Zoloft is an anti-depressant and can be used to treat panic attacks. The side effects can include "drowsiness, tiredness, feeling dizziness, anxious or agitated."

Healthline.com says, "Add in the side effects from a few prescription or over-the-counter medications, and it’s easy to see how certain drugs can wreak havoc on your workout.

"From accidentally injuring yourself while lifting weights when you’re drowsy, to risk of dehydration, elevated blood pressure, and overheating, the potential dangers should be on your radar. That way, you can take steps to exercise safely.
"While this list doesn’t cover every drug that could negatively impact your sweat session, it covers some of the more common ones."

One of the 7 medicines healthline.com lists as not compatible with exercise is Zoloft.

One of the websites said, how does it make you feel when you exercise on" Zoloft, in your case.

You said when you exercise on Zoloft, " My heart is keep beating fast sometimes like I’m having a nervous breakdown." Your body is letting you know these two things don't mix.

Would you take a drink of alcohol and then go exercise? No. The two are not exactly the same, but both are drugs, and you are putting a drug in your body, then pushing your body.

You can go to the web and ask in the search engine the question of, "Medicine and exercise" or "Zoloft and exercise."

I take Zoloft and I exercise. My therapist and psychiatrist know that I take Zoloft and they have encouraged me to exercise. Exercise helps me control my anxiety.

Tim Tam says “the net warns against” exercise while on Zoloft. I’m not sure that’s right. In any event, “the net” is not so reliable. There’s some good information on the net along with massive amounts of rubbish.

If you’re uncertain, ask your physician.
