It's an unfortunate fact that many people have had one or more traumatic experiences in their lives. And trauma can be a part of what causes anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other forms of mental illness.

After experiencing trauma, it's normal to feel sad, angry, and anxious.

However, does that mean you, as a trauma survivor, should never get help for it?

No!

Recovering from trauma doesn't happen overnight. But with the help of psychiatric medications and psychotherapy, you can make lots of progress in getting over what happened to you. You really can resume your life one day.

I would say any event that causes you as a person trauma. Being caused trauma would be a traumatic experience. I don't know if the specific incident would matter as much as how it made you feel. Healing from a traumatic experience takes time and patience.

And such as PTSD, you can react years later after blocking the experience from your mind. It is tricky.

Good topic Mike. Gives a lot of different perspectives. Things to think about.

Hugs, Karen...
