If you have mental illness and have decided to seek treatment for it, working with a psychiatrist and/or a therapist whom you think are the right people for you to be seeing matters. Working with a shrink that you don't think is very good at it is not something I'd recommend.
However, if you do start seeing a shrink, I would recommend seeing him or her more than one session before deciding if he/she is the right shrink for you.
Years ago, I was seeing a mental health provider. After the first session we had, I wasn't so sure that me continuing to work with him was going to work out for me.
But after seeing a couple of more times, I came to realize that he was, in my opinion, very good at what he does, and that he was the right person for me to be seeing.
So if you start seeing a shrink, you might want to give him/her more than one session before deciding to stick with him or her or moving on to another provider.
