You could go to your general practitioner and ask them what they think it is.
They may want to refer you to a back doctor. You may want to get the opinion of a chiropractor.
I started having lower back pain many years ago the moment after I lifted a heavy item which was too much for my back.
I went to both a back doctor and a chio. I've been going to chio's ever since and they put my back into place and I don't have any problem for awhile after that. When I do, I go back to the chio.
Did you lift something prior to your backpain 4 weeks ago? You may have twisted and it caught something in your back. Doing exercises, touching your toes.
For temporary relief, my chio told me to alternate heat and ice. I'll put a heating pad on my back for 15 or 20 minutes, is a guess. Moistening a squeezed out pad, moist heat, and putting it between your back and the pad, I find helps more than just a regular heating pad. But both are effective for me. It increases the blood vessels and rushes more oxygen and nutrients to the injured area.
If it's regular back pain, one that a chio can work with, the gel pack can help very quickly and is preferred by my chio.
If you go to a chio and they can't work with it, they can tell you that and perhaps suggest a back doctor. That's just my opinion.
My chio told me to wait 15 or 30minutes, I'll guess, and replace it with a frozen gel pack, which are sold in drug stores and over the net. You might want to place a towel between your back and the gel pack because it will be very cold. The cold reduces the inflammation, my chio told me
I think one of those over the counter pills like Advil can give you some temporary relief until you can get to the doctor. I would check that on the net.
I would make an appointment as soon as possible with the weekdays coming up. You might look at the search engine on your computer and type in "chiropractor (or back doctor, or general practitioner) in my hometown." Pick one, and then set up an appointment on Monday, would be my suggestion. Or set up an appointment on the computer, I don't know how that works.
You are very wise to seek information about this.
