Maybe if I get this off my chest it’ll ease things, I don’t know. I find it amazing 90% of the People I know live in their own little bubble And are able to ignore the world around them. I live in reality, I’ve read “living in reality” is a survival instinct, it kind of seems like it is.

I was able to ward off anxiety from the worldwide virus, I’m an introvert it really didn’t affect my life much. But The possibility of rise of military conflict in an already touchy region and possibly beyond is worrysome.

I mentioned it to my brother, he’s just a tough old man that holds back what he’s thinking, but I could see beyond his blank eyes that he was worried as well, I mean he has grandkids. Even if things work out better than the worst there is still a huge trickle down and affects the world economy at a minimum.

I’ve had a lot of health issues beyond this forum that I have finally gotten under control so I felt pretty good for a while. Managing my anxiety has been way easier than in the past and I’ve done it with many different supplements supporting different parts of the body from different angles. It does seem to be coming back and it’s pretty hard to ignore what’s going on in the world.

I just wonder, those of you who know what I’m saying when I say I live in “reality”, Do you have some successful strategies for times like these?

Yes, I realize there may be a turning point, I certainly hope so, but the wondering is trying to eat me up inside.

Thank you in advance

It's good that you wrote in to get other views.

It seems to me that you are attaching your anxiety to some potential miliary conflict 10,000 miles away.
Above, you mention anxiety, or something related to that, 10 times.

You mention supplements and I took those when I had concerns about medicine. But now, as a bipolar, I'm back on my meds with Mirtazapine anti-depressant and Lithium stabilizer which keeps the anti-depressant from throwing me into mania.

And I’m glad to be on them and in from the cold.

Have you ever taken any psy. meds? There are several for anxiety.

As far as the virus, I’ve taken two shots and am thinking about taking a booster shot. Where do you stand in that area?

I wear a mask whenever I go into a store or the doctor so that I don’t give the virus if I have it and hopefully the mask will keep me from getting it from others. I wash my hands upon entering and leaving a store.

Hopefully I can get the booster shot, buy a squirt bottle of soap to keep in my car in case a store doesn’t have one and buy better masks because mine is the cheaper kind that may let air in from the side.

Also, read on the net the latest about the virus and ways to protect myself and others.

history points out that it did matter in the past, in a huge way, it took a while. Most of those people are no longer living to remind world leaders of that. Deceased elders of my family served in both of those events, so I’m very well aware of how things start. There is currently a lot of kindling there, increasing every day. Kind of hard to ignore that when your person that likes to know what’s going on.

Totally mind blowing that modern humans cannot agree on things in a civilized way. Then again it’s obvious not all leaders are civil.

As far as Covid, I am up-to-date on all the info and the dangers of it are hardly on my radar anymore.

The saying “ignorance is bliss”, when you think about it there’s a lot of truth to that, especially when you see things like the Kardashians as something important on the Internet lol!

It is said to try not to worry about things out of your control. I agree it is scary though. Do have faith.

I look at it as this country with all the trials and tribulations is relatively safe. Though a lot goes on within. I hope you can get your anxiety under control. I take ativan. It helps.

Hang in there...

Hugs, Karen...

I can relate, astroman. I seem to be unable to NOT be aware of everything going on.......the pandemic, overpopulation, crime, the environment, the possibility of another war, etc., etc., etc. I so wish I could give you some good advice. All I can do myself (living with constant body pain and mental anguish), is to go through the day and try to be aware of everything that is good, and for which I am grateful. It can be simple things........like watching the birds, or see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, or how the sunlight hits a picture on the wall, or having food to eat.. I know this might sound silly to people, but sometimes, it's all we have. And I guess we need to figure out how to encourage Hope. I'm trying to "re-train" my brain with good thoughts. But it's hard. All I can say is good luck to you and be grateful with anything you can find to be grateful for.

Hi, I agree, it’s hard to ignore. And honestly, people who ignore the outside world frustrate me! Here is what I try…limit news to one time of day. Maybe read the news in the morning, or watch the evening broadcast, but not all day. Lose yourself in a good book - this helps me so much. Get outside and take a walk, or watch the birds outside if the weather is bad. (Someone else just mentioned this, but I love my bird feeder. The birds and squirrels are practically my pets now.). If you like to cook or bake, put on some music and make something yummy…or healthy and nourishing. Take care, you’re not alone!

Well that was last week.

personally my anxiety went down a little bit as reality set in, Even though reality is pretty bad at the moment and a lot of people are afraid to talk about it.

Once you ask people in the real world, most are quite worried.

Hopefully this becomes history. I’m not a religious person, And we’re not supposed to talk about religion on this forum, but for those of you that are believers , I hope the world prays as much as possible.

I realize this is an anxiety forum ; it’s supposed to be about health. Right now the one big world event over plays any personal problems. May peace prevail.

AM

( I know a little something about things that fly, about 15 years ago when I was unemployed two weapons companies approached me for employment, the pay was pretty good, but I couldn’t live with myself If I did that for a living, I said no thanks. )

Astroman,

I am sure that there are many people "worried" about the world situations. And there are many. But a lot of people have current worries within their reach and have to deal with them. We can't fix covid, war or other things going on in the world. We have to learn to live along side and take care of our business at hand. Some people worry where their next meal is coming from or where they are going to sleep at night. I am just saying some people have things to deal with other than what is going on outside in this big world.

I have heard it is not the situation but how you handle it. When it is nothing I can fix personally, I try not to let it worry me or give me an anxiety attack. I am aware of it, I don't like it, but I don't let it control me.

You said you are feeling better, that is awesome. There is always going to be some turmoil in the world. Some we can help with, some we cannot. Yes, prices are going up. Money doesn't go as far anymore. I am sure we are heading, if not already, into a depression. But we just do the best we can. We may struggle.

I hope that this isn't depressing, though things in the world are. But as mentioned above, enjoy the things you have and the things that you can. Sunrises, sunsets, the birds, other wild life. You will see that it really is a beautiful world. Sometimes you have to look and listen. But it is there...

Hugs, Karen...

I here ya. This is also prob not the place for this. I should probably 🤐 zip it. I’m a problem solver, so not used to things I can’t do anything about. Nature is my thing, walked out to an island on a frozen lake today (24” thick ice still). Was very peaceful.

Walking to the island sounds awesome. Lakes are frozen around here too. I can imagine how peaceful that was. I am glad you had that experience.

Best wishes for a wonderful day...
