Hello,

Ok here's the deal. I am 26, female, smoker, longtime anxiety/health anxiety sufferer. My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer about 5 years ago, they found it really early, removed it and he's been fine ever since. I just found out that my second cousin who is younger than me, was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, which has now spread to her liver and she only has a few months to live. I am terrified that I have this disease and am dying. I don't know if it's IBS that I suffer from, I've been having constipation and diarrhea at the same time if that makes sense, extreme nausea, i have absolutely no appetite, and my stomach feels huge and full. Does anyone else experience this as a result of anxiety? I have a dr. appt tomorrow for a routine physical and will have my bloodwork done, etc, but I don't know if I should have this looked into further. I cannot sleep more than a few hours a night, my mind is running non stop and I just cannot get a reprieve from these feelings that my life is coming to an end. If anyone can help, please, it's much appreciated.

I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. My thoughts are prayers are with you and your family. I too can relate to the health anxiety. I would just go to the doctor and have some tests run to calm your anxiety.

hugs,

I have bad health anxiety too, so I can relate. You will be in my prayers. May God bless you with peace of mind and a clean bill of health.

Hi babyblue,

Yes, I get those symptoms. Diarrhea, stomach bloating, extreme nausea. I have terrible health anxiety. Doctors have done all the tests and say IBS is what I have. I really think if I could get rid of the anxiety then the IBS symptoms would leave, too. You should talk to the doc about it at your appt and if it would make you feel better then have a colonoscopy to rule it out. I had one and felt better that there wasn't anything wrong, but since I have severe health anxiety, I just found something else to worry about! Hope you feel better soon.

Hi babyblue,

Sorry to hear about your cousin sad. My friend gets similar symptoms and she suffers IBS.

With your family history though it wouldn't be out of place to ask the doctor to run tests and keep annual checkups on the colon. It's like any disease that runs in your family you just need to keep a closer eye on yourself.
First up though get an appointment, have some tests done you'll feel better once you have a definite diagnosis.

babyblue,

I agree with what the others have said it would not be outta line to ask doc to run tests. Keep yuor doc up to date with things going on.

Also check back and let us know how you are doing.
