I am a 46 year old female with generalized anxiety disorder plus severe irritable bowel. I am almost to the point of being debilitated by the two together. I am a hairdresser and while working on Friday, I got severe chest pains, dizziness, and nausea. I had to leave work to go the hospital in fear of my having a heart attack, which is what it felt like. It was ruled out by tests and blood work. Since then I have had a cardiac stress test-negative, and a CAT scan-negative. I feel like I am shaking inside all of the time and still having chest pain. When all of this began a couple of days ago, my lower abdomen was heavy and crampy and my bowel movements definately changed in color and consistency. What can I do? I need help! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi There Shellcrazy

Welcome :-) You'll enjoy it here, there are tons of friendly people to support you and help you out. You don't say if you are taking anything for anxiety, I think I would go to your GP asap and get something to help with the anxiety, which is what is probably causing your IBS to act up big time.

I know when my anxiety is really bad, it makes my colitis so much worse. I hope you feel better soon and it's nice to meet you.

Greetings Shellcrazy

Welcome!!! Years ago I was in college to become hairdresser...When it came time to do perms, the smell of the solutions made me sick. Could it be the smells of the chemicals are starting to make you ill?

The fumes have never bothered me before, have been using them for over 20 years now. This whole thing has gotten more and more intense. I have other problems to attribute to my worry also. I have complete and total neuropathy in my left leg due to a surgical injury four years ago, a have a 21 year old daughter in college who I am paying for all of her educational expenses, plus I work full time, and take care of my 89 year old grandmother, and my diabetic husband. By the way, over all this weekends testing, I found out on top of everything else, that I am also diabetic. WHAT NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
