I was just wondering if anyone here has or is using the Claire Weekes techniques to help with panic/anxiety.  I've read her books for years and they have helped tremendously.  Now that I'm dealing with a setback, I'm re-reading and having some success and finding peace from her books.  Anyway, was wondering if anyone else knows about this and if we could possibly connect here on the board to help each other out.

weekes was australian and a pioneer of the methods used for anxiety and panic attacks used today, she is now dead and her books although old are still worth reading

she was ridiculed by the psychiatrists but time has shown that she was right and they were wrong

recovered former longtime anxiety and panic attack sufferer and helper of other sufferers  but no training or  qualifications in medicine or psychology, any remarks that may be taken as advice must be confirmed with doctor or other health professional

I have suffered with panic attacks most of my life. Just recently, I heard about Claire Weeks and purchsed her book. I have to say that nothing else has helped me as much as her book. I keep it on my night stand. When I started to get these feelings again (about 3 months ago), I thought that I would never feel myself again. After reading and re-reading her book, I am learning to deal with it and I have to say that I am feeling much better. I am able to go out again and when I get a feeling of anxiety, I don't panic over it like I used to do. I even downloaded her tapes. She has a very soothing voice and it seems like she is actually talking to you. I wish that I had known about her books years ago. Today is going to be a big test for me. I am taking the Express bus into Manhattan to see the tree at Rockerfeller Center and then going out to dinner. Two months ago, I would have not even considered doing this but I am hoping that I can do it now. I just refuse to let this anxiety and panic ruin my life.

I'm glad to see that there are others here who know about Claire Weekes.  So many of the newer techniques don't work for me nearly as well as her books do.

Geljoy,  I, too read and re-read her books all the time.  I always find myself and what I'm feeling in her words, and they give me such comfort.  I have been getting out a little more with the help of her techniques as well.  I wish you a wonderful, peaceful trip to Manhatten I would love to see that tree, but being that I live in Minnesota, I don't think that's going to happen.  Have a great time and let me know how it goes!  Could you also share with me where you downloaded her tapes, I'd be very interested in doing that as well.

Janetlee, I hope your book arrives soon.  I think you will find comfort in her writing and in the fact that she seems to cover whatever you are going through.  I've started writing page numbers on the inside cover of the book as reference to sections that are of particular help to me.  My only suggestion is that you read it more than once.  I've read them dozens of times, and still find new gems that help me each time.  Please let me know how you like her book.

Alwaysanxious,  we sound like we are in the same place right now, I'm in a setback and re-reading the three books I have.  My books are also yellow with age and a few pages are torn a bit from use, but they are still what I always turn to for a little comfort and reminder on how to deal with anxiety.

Thank you to all who responded, I hope we can keep in touch and share our experiences with these wonderful books.

I downloaded her tapes "Pass Through Panic" from You can either purchase the cassettes or do an audio download. I did the audio download and made a CD from it. I play it in the car while I'm driving. I made my husband listen to the CD to get a better understanding of what I go through.
I will let you know how my trip into Manhattan goes today. Sometimes, I think that the thought of doing something is worse than actually doing it. about 2 months ago, I had a dentist appointment. I was so nervous for days. Not about going to the dentist but I was scared that I would have a panic attack in the chair. Once I got there, I was fine.
