forgetting to breathe when anxious or stressed is surprisingly common and should be watched for
I had this problem and would eventually have a mild panic attack from it
I now remind myself to keep on breathing when tense or concentrating hard on something
this has been mentioned before here  but is important
another often mentioned problem is feeling the need to take each breath consciously when tense
recovered former longtime anxiety and panic attack sufferer and helper of other sufferers  but no training or  qualifications in medicine or psychology, any remarks that may be taken as advice must be confirmed with doctor or other health professional
emails are welcome but do mention healingwell to avoid risk of deletion as spam

When I'm panicking I almost always forget to breathe.

On the way to the casino I would start getting really panicky, then realized I wasn't breathing, so I'd do the deep slow breaths...

then the panic would subside and that helped prevent a major panic attack and kept me going in my travels... rather than turning around.. which I always do....
