I have had anxiety and depression since I was 4. I'm now 21. I have a constant fear of going to hell when I die and theres nothing I can do about it. It is the worst fear I could possibly have. Is this common with anxiety or am I the only one?

To help ease your fears you may want to read some books about people who have had near death experiences. That helped me.

I think the best person to talk to would be a clergyman. They're the experts on heaven and hell, and can certainly ease your mind for the time being. Additionally they may refer you to a religiously oriented counselor.

Hello there! I know EXACTLY how you feel. I have struggled with that thought for years! And IMO, it all comes down to a matter of trust. I dont know if you follow any type of religion or not, but according to mine( Christianity) if you believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, that He died for your sins, and that he rose from the dead, then you are saved and in NO danger of going to hell when you die. The scriptures say "For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16. Now that word perish means,...go to hell. So it is a matter of TRUSTING in what Christ did for you on the cross and asking Him into your heart and following Him.

See, I actually believe that the root of most anxiety is a fear to die. Because with all these symtoms we who suffer from anxiety and panic get...what is it we are so afraid of????? That we might die. So really, when you settle in your mind what happens after you die, you might actually see some of the anxiety start to go away. Sometimes...oftentimes, medication is needed to help with chemical imbalances.

All I know is...Jesus said..."I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me". So no one has eternal life in heaven unless they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This is what I FIRMLY believe in my heart to be truth.

yeah  i jbrownefan21, i read your post, i know how you feel. I am not afraid of hell, but i do fear death.I have dealt with the fear of death since i was a very small child. I still get those feelings, when i think of my mortality. The fear has gotten better, since i have become a born again christan. I do totally agree with Dawns statement. Trusting in the lord is what keeps me sane, espescially when i get my panic attacks. If you do beleive in the lord, you may want to start reading scriptures on fear, faith and so on. It will make you a stronger person emotionally and spiritually and it will then help your mental and physical state.I hope you can one day overcome this horrible fear. If you beleive that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again and asended into heaven, and we truly beleive then we will have everlasting life, and a much better life than we have here on earth. What can help letting go in fear is trusting the lord, for he said he will never leave nor forsake us. God is not a liar. He is God,  the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I hope this helps. Try to find a good christain based chucrh, thats if you would like. this will help you alot, to be in fellowship of other beleivers. they will help you...God Bless you
