I have been working for over 35 years in order to support my three children (single mom) and it STILL terrifies me to start a new job. I have just been offered a great one here where I'm temping and I'm looking for ever excuse not to take it - I also think that as you get older it's just so much harder to make changes, at least for me. So it doesn't matter whether you've worked all your life or NEVER worked before - getting out there and starting something new can be scary as hell - I just TRY to take it one day at a time and say to myself "well, if it doesn't work out, what's the worst that can happen, I'll find something else. That's the one good thing about
doing temp work - you don't feel as tied to it permanently and can move on to something else if it doesn't work for you - only problem is you don't get insurance coverage unless you pay through the nose. Maybe that would be a good route for you to take as you wouldn't feel so "trapped" by the job.
