Has there ever been a study showing what the ratio of people with anxiety/depression, also have acid reflux disease?
I read something to the affect of, although you could be taking something like Zoloft, stopping it and starting something else (like Lexapro) without giving the other one time to get out of your system, could cause you to have a more adverse reaction later on down the road.  Anyone heard of this?  I think they are stating your chemistry could be thrown off or something like that and you might not show a adverse reaction right away and it might not be severe, but could give you symptoms slowly and after a lengthly time on the pill.  Very confusing stuff to me???

Hi Blue, I dont know of any studies that I could pull up to show you regarding the ratio of anxiety/depression suffers who have also had problems with GERD.  However, I am sure there are many with this problem.  You may want to try the WebMD site or the National Institute of Mental Health and see if anything pops for you there.

As for stopping one antidepressant and starting another, usually a person will have much less side effects regardless if it is during the changing of the medicating regime or afterward if they have a transistion of another antid to fall back on.  This is because it keeps the seratonin levels in the brain at a somewhat normal level...where when you completely stop or wean from a med the seratonin starts to return to its normal low levels.  But do keep in mind that everyone is differant and all these meds work differantly for us.  When doing your research on this stuff make sure that the information you get is from reputable sites or sources as there is lots of speculation out there that is completely untrue in this area of depression/anxiety and how medications should be managed.

Take care and be well :-)
