Sometimes just at the point that I am drifting off to sleep I can feel my heart make a big thump/thunk.  This makes me wake up and then it will happen a couple of more times before I actually fall asleep.  I never feel this when I'm fully awake.  I had a complete cardiac workup a year ago (EKG, Echo, Thallium Stress Test, Cath., bloodwork, x-ray) and was told it was just anxiety.  I believe that I had experienced this at that time.  But, memory isn't always perfect.
Anyone have these "thumps" as they're drifting off?
Thanks for any help or advice,

it sure happens a lot to me, and i'm sure to a lot of other people as well. its quite annoying, but since you've had all the proper tests done to rule out anything physical, its most definitly anxiety related. that being said, theres a lot of things you can do to calm yourself down before going to bed ranging from herbal teas to relaxation techniques to medication.

just know you're not alone, and that you can make them go away with a little effort :)

all sort of strange things happen as we fall asleep or wake up and should be considered as normal
