I took my last dose of Prozac on Friday, I was doing a combined weaning off and starting on avanza. It's been almost 3 weeks now since I started weaning off the Prozac and started on the avanza with me now on 60mg a day plus my 2mg of clonazepam.
I'm starting to crash badly, but I'm also coming into my pms time which is major dropping, really bad thoughts and anxiety which then leads to deep depression and of course lifts after about 8 days.
Could it be the prozac? My pdoc said if the avanza doesn't work we'll be looking at hospital again and starting on something like lithium to try to stabilize my moods.
I'm so upset thinking that I may have to leave my kids again so soon after a long stay in hospital, I was really hoping that we'd finally found the right meds. I do see the gyno next week so hopefully he'll be able to give some hormonal advice. I keep doing my relaxation every day and challenging my thoughts my pdoc is very big on CBT. If I knew for sure it was the prozac withdrawal it would make it a lot easier to keep my thoughts in a positive light. My brain atm is over CBTing itself with so much talk happening.
Has anyone done a prozac withdrawal? and if so how long before the effects of the withdrawal came out?

Hi Aussieangel
Well I never went thru prozac withdrawl as you describe (in fact I felt really good going off it) but I never went on Avanza at the same time either..hmm I am no doctor so it's hard to say what's going on with you just now.
But i too have really bad pms and my mood drops considerably at this time too..actually I have started a mood, period and sleep chart so my doc and I can see how my depression and insomnia are affected by pms..
Hopefully your mood will lift after the 8 days and all will be well..positive thoughts Aussieangel.

I see my pdoc today and have a few questions for him as he's going on a psych lecture in the US and will be away for 3 weeks.

The plan had been if the avanza didn't work, he'd be starting me on lithium but I don't think this month is a true indicator. I've felt the shakes, had an upset stomach, muscles spasms and my brain having to catch up to my body if I turn too quickly.....all signs I had when I withdrew off zoloft. I keep hold of the fact that it's probable prozac withdrawal so I don't sink too deep in self pity and depression.

Harry clonazepam is the first med I want to lower once I get stable so upping it isn't an option. I'm thinking of asking for another script for largactil liquid for the really bad days, just for this month, by next month we'll get a truer idea of what's going on.
