I KNOW there are FDA warnings on Paxil.....however I am wondering if anyone FIRST HAND has sucessfully completed a pregnancy while taking paxil.
I have Lyme disease, (in remission) and I have suffered severe anxiety and depression at times.  I am on paxil now.  I just found out I am 6-7 weeks pregnant.
last time I tried to get off paxil 2005, I became ill, lost my pregnancy, and initiated my lyme to become full force causing 18 months of bedridden agony.
I am now going through the toughest time emotionally,
my husband recently left me, I am financially struggling due to a major company lay off, and just everything that goes with losing a spouse of 14 years.....
so you can see my reasoning for NOT wanting to stop taking it at this time.....
any advise is great
thanks Much

pregnancys while on paxil type meds are fairly common, I expect you are familiar with paxil discontinuation syndrome, details of it on the net

Dear Sarah,

I am so sorry that you are in such a tough spot. I know there is info on the net as harry mentioned but you are in an unusual situation and I would encourage you to see your physician and tell him/her your whole story.

You really need an individual professional opinion and care during this pregnancy.

Yours is a rough story and I'm sorry to hear what all you're going through. But in terms of the Paxil, while you might get good advice here, it's no substitute for an M.D.'s (just as Kitt said). They have access to journals in which this very situation (Paxil and pregnancy) has been studied at length. These are not usually available on the net, at least for free, but doctors do have access to them so they'll know the risks better than ANYONE here.

Good Luck.
