Im not sure what disorder I have

Hello,im very confused im not sure if I have Add or generalized Anxiety.  I find it hard to concentrate on anything! My house is always a mess and i find it hard to even entertain my little lad which is very upsetting this is because I get bored easily I have alot of other problems but these are the main ones.  My patner of 8 years is v supportive but just thinks im lazy I think.  Does anyone know what my symptoms sounds like and also how i can convince my boyf that im not just LAZY. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

i too have a messy house. i have a hard time staying focused on cleaning or anything else for that matter. i dont have ADD i'm bipolar and have anxiety issues. i'm not saying that you have the same thing just thats what i have. do you feel anxious alot? if you do then you might want to talk to your doctor about how you feel and get some help for it. thats my best advice. sorry its not more.
I have bipolar disorder, panic attacks w/agoraphobia, social anxiety, diabetes, asthma, and high blood pressure.

Sarah,  I want to say welcome to HW.
When I was younger they could have sworn that I had ADD, but that is not the case.  My room is a mess, to everyone else, but I have a system.  I just get anxious when I think about having a room that's too clean.
But as I got older, I was diagnosed as bipolar and A/P.  I also noticed the more anxious my life, the worse my place looked.  Then I feel more anxious about how things look, you know it's a cycle of anxiety.

Hello and Welcome to Healing Well.

Here is a list of the symptoms so you can compare them :-) Symptoms of ADD

Often fidgeting with hands or feet, or squirming while seated.

Having difficulty remaining seated.

Having difficulty awaiting turn in games or group activities.

Often blurting out answers before questions are completed.

Having difficulty in following instructions.

Having difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities.

Often shifting from one uncompleted task to another.

Having difficulty playing quietly.

Often talking excessively.

Often interrupting or intruding on others.

Often not listening to what is being said.

Often forgetting things necessary for tasks or activities.

Often engaging in physically dangerous activities without considering possible consequences.

Being easily distracted by extraneous stimuli.

Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder

palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate


trembling or shaking

sensations of shortness of breath or smothering

feeling of choking

chest pain or discomfort

nausea or abdominal distress

feeling dizzy, unsteady, lightheaded, or faint

derealization (feelings of unreality) or depersonalization (being detached from oneself)

fear of losing control or going crazy

fear of dying

paresthesias (numbness or tingling sensations)

chills or hot flushes

persistent concern about having additional attacks

worry about the implications of the attack or its consequences (e.g., losing control, having a heart attack, "going crazy")

a significant change in behavior related to the attacks

Neither list is all inclusive and your physician is the best person to help you figure out what is happening with you.

I have anxiety/panic but I also have bipolar and ocd. My house is spotless. Everything for me has a place. I enjoy cleaning. Even at work my office is the most organized and clean. People even comment on both places. I find it very calming to be in a clean house. I won't be able to relax until it is clean.
I feel uncomfortable at other peoples houses when they are messy. I cringe when someone moves things or touches things in my house. I even have to redo the dishwasher if my husband puts the dishes in. I call him over show him how I like it and say if you do them atleast put them in this way. Even laundry, I like all my clothes hung a certain way.
I think everyone deals w/ their disorders differently. If you are very concerned you should see a doctor and explain everything to him. That way you can put your mind at ease.

I also am severe OCD with cleaning and how nic nacs are or have to be balanced perfectly.everything in house does down to pics on wall is driving me batty
Cannot /will not leave a dish or untensil in sink...think about it if
Wash floors at least 3 to 4 times daily have gotten better with that was washing in am's and then everytime I went out door come back in and before bed
My other OCD is checking things in 4's and 5's like doors windows ect .......
I have a routine but that has been shot lately due to illness and other matters
I KNOW when going into depressed mode as I dont have the urge to clean ( not thats there is anything to clean lol) or do anything but sit and think bad thoughts and about my past life and losses ..the what if's ya know
I have just been put on an AD to see if that will help I am hoping to God it does as I see my daughter becoming me ......

My brothers will come over and move something I notice instantly and anxiety begins .......Once it was 17 things pics and nic nacs I noticed all withing 15 minutes at tops they think it is funny ,..not to my mind

Is it possible you are depressed and just dont realize it .....not happy at all .....there are so many types of depression and reasons for it .........a/p can and will do this as well IMHO

I would talk to your doctor as posted and see what can be done
There are also many self help techniques out there as well as CBT
You may want to check out the Resources at the side as well

I amglad you posted that was your first step you need to carry on .we shall be with you in this if you want us to be .......

** I wish I could leave my place a mess just for a few hours but it causes me to go into anxiety mode quickly anmd really like I said this place doesnt get dirty
