I'm new and have been suffering anxiety since feb - i hate it!

Hi guys, I am totally new to all of this. I have been suffering from anxiety since february when I had a severe panic attack at a restaurant while having dinner with my sis, we are about to go to a concert, I never went, instead I went to hospital and since then i can no and will not eat at night at any restaurant. I just get too anxious even with meds, I have afraid of everything and I feel depressed a lot. I wish it would go away!

Welcome to Healing Well and to the A & P forum. I believe  you will find the members caring and very supportive.

I am sorry you have been struggling with anxiety and that your meds are not working well for you. Do you have a therapist as that is part of learning to live with this disorder? A good therapist can be you best friend if you develop a trust relationship with him/her.

I am sure you will be hearing from other members soon.

Sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time right now.  I totally agree with kitt, if you don't have a therapist yet, find one.  It can help so much to have someone knowledgeable to talk to.  Another thing that worked for me was reading alot, I found that the more information I had about p/a the better I felt.  There are alot of books on the subject, try looking at the library or amazon for some.  Hope things improve for you!

Oh Oodles! I FEEL your pain!
You are so afraid of having another panic attack that you are AVOIDING going to a restaurant at night for fear it will happen again. I totally understand that, but PLEASE listen: it was NOT the restaurant or the time of day that caused your panic attack. They can happen anywhere and at anytime. I know all too well how it goes. I've been in your shoes so please hear me out! If you start avoiding a place because of having a PA, your world could get smaller and smaller...you don't want that. I wish I'd had more info when I was a lot younger and perhaps I'd have a fuller life today. I am on disability cuz of anxiety. Please do what's been suggested and get a good therapist and/or pdoc ASAP to help you thru this. Also, I know I sound like a broken record to ones that read my posts often, but also get the book "Hope and Help for Your Nerves" by Dr. Claire Weekes. It helped me immensely. You can find it used on ebay or amazon. Her approach to anxiety was simple but effective.
By realizing that you have tools to overcome this, you'll be more empowered to take back control of your life, so keep up the quest for help and solutions. You/ve come to a great place to aid you in doing so!

You have been given great input from all above I do think you need to talk to your doc and go thru the whole gamut of what is going on and tell all that is happening before your A/P gets way outta hand ......it is just strting now to get a grip on you and get you in depression

If you learn some self help tech like deep breathing,relaxation skills and read some good self help books it will also be beneficial with the meds

I agree a good therapist would also be a benefit to you
