I want to preface this with the fact that before the last year and half I have never suffered from even the most remote feelings of anxiety and panic in my life.

I am a extremely active, (almost ADD because of how much I am into) Usually pretty happy person. Always been an optimist.
Which is one of the reasons that I am so lost and confused with my current state.

I have a huge amount of stress in my life. Some I can alleviate, some I cannot. Work, Family, Kids, Money etc...etc...

I am currently taking one 150 wellbutrin in the am along with a .25 zanax... It has taken the edge off but I still feel the anxiety and walk around in a kind of depressed/anxious fog.

I have tried
Zoloft... about a 1 1/2 years ago for about 10 -12 months (made me a zombie) didn't care about anything
Cymbalta... freaked out pretty bad on it
Lexapro... had a bad reaction after 2 weeks (not as bad as Cymbalta)
Wellbutrin... currently

Last week I thought after my 2nd month on wellbutrin that I may be getting better and that the wellbutrin may be keeping me in that weird depressed/anxious state. So I didnt take my am dose and
all that day I felt great. No worries, lots of energy, like my old self again. Then that night I had a heck of an anxiety attack and due to that took my wellbutrin the next day.
I just cant seem to get by the feeling that people are out to get me. I can't stand living like this. The best way to describe it is like feeling like you are standing on a chair with a noose
around your neck waiting for someone to kick the chair out from under you.

What does everyone think? I listen to relaxation/mediatation tapes, try to sleep as much as family and work allows, try to do fun things, but that constant feeling of dread makes everying I try to do
no fun, and not relaxing.

Thanks again for everyones advice.

I am sorry you are going through this----I am currently taking Klonopin, as needed, b/c I had some bad reactions with both Lexapro and Celexa. I am just wondering---have you ever considered talking with someone about your experiences? A therapist? I guess I am thinking out loud----some people take medications, go to therapy to face anxiety/panic "head on"---and get better b/c they know how to 'face it'---others take medication for the rest of their lives (which is OK)---b/c it helps them day-to-day! I guess I am saying--maybe you should discuss all of this with your doctor---and see which route is best for you. For me---I am going to see my MD on 11/12---and I am going to talk w/ him about trying to take something "short term"---a year or two---and then, also---go to a therapist that specializes in Cognitive Behavior Therapy---b/c I want to learn to change my 'thougt process' before I get to the state of anxiety that I am currently experiencing----I would think that doing both meds/therapy would help-----but, that is just for ME! I am sure others can offer you their experiences----

don't know if I helped any---but, seeing your post just made me think----keep posting here---the MB is great!

Sorry to hear about your problem and I can understand and appreciate how you feel when taking meds... I am the same way. I have used alternative therapy for past 7 years and see a homepathic doctor for nautural remedies and they have done wonders for me. I am not saying they have the answer to eveyones problem but if normal conventional medicine is not working, then that is another option. Most of the herbal remedies have no side effects..

Good luck to you

I have suffered with my nerves for the fast five years now, and i know exactly how you feel. Whenever i get a health scare which i have at the moment my anxiety is through the roof.  i always imagine that it is serious and when i visit the Doctors i feel ashamed as the physical symptoms are real like i,e IBS and other gastro problems .  i feel like the doctor thinks oh here she is worrying again instead of reassuring me.
This is a nightmare and people who do not suffer from anxiety and other panic disorders have no idea wat it is like.
If i can be of help please reply.

hey artist.

From what it sounds like is the Wellbutrin is not working out for you. Sometimes it takes multiple trys at meds to hit the right one. It seems like you have gone through a few, and i've been through some of those as well. The one that did the trick is one i never heard of, called Remeron. Not saying this would be the drug for you, but saying that if you feel the way you do you are either overmedicated, or wellbutrin is not helping.

I agree with hopeisreal. You may already be doing this, but if not, please try and find a therapist to talk to. Most of all be kind to yourself. This stuff is very difficult to go through, and the best thing you can do for yourself is keep being optimistic, drink lots of fluids, and talk about whats going on. I think that is pretty cool you were able to post on here, it shows that you really want to get better. You'd be surprised at the number of people that are scared or uncomfortable to post. You're not only helping yourself but others by posting about you experience.

Hang in there man, i know its rough. It sounds like you need to switch meds, but you need to do that with a doctor to make sure you are covered during any transitions. And, just from my own experience, try not to miss a dose. Even if you feel like crap, the back and forth of chemicals cant be good for you.

take care and keep us posted. Thanks for writing!

Hello artist. I'm currently taking wellbutrin. I started out at 300mg. I couldn't slow down. My anxiety was through the roof. My doctor has cut me back to 50mg 2 times a day. She started me on Buspar. It seems to be helping, my anxiety has come down quit a bit. I'm still waiting for the buspar to start working. My body has been really tired. My moods have been better, I'm thinking more positive. I kinda feel a little bit like myself again. I just wanted to put in my 2 cents, Allmixedup
Mod-severe depression, anxiety, panic attacks.
Meds currently on, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Klonopin, Zyprexa
