I hate the cold - because of the Fibromyalgia.  I just don't do well in the cold.  I like the first couple of snowfalls because they are so pretty.  As Sadsong said a few posts back, we had our first real snowfall.  Kids are happy, I'm not - oh well. I have always wanted to go to Alaska for a visit during the warmer months.  It looks like it's beautiful country and would like to see it.  A friend of mine went there several years ago and loved it.  Once I can get over the Agoraphobia, I will be making plans to go to Alaska. I am feeling like I have been gone forever............ok, now I turn my back and you all go wacky, falling trees, and birds in ovens............

I am in North Dakota, that is right next to the North Pole for those who have no idea where I am. devil

"The Great Snow of 1717" blanketed New England in a series of four storms, leaving nearly four feet on the ground and drifts up to 25 feet high. I am hoping to get home before I am in the middle of a rerun of this storm............

i do love the cute polar bears and the icebergs.  Ok so those are not icebergs but ice cubes in my diet coke and I have only encountered a dusting of snow, but brrrrrrrrr, it is cold. lol

Lyn, my, Sister of the North Wind, I am sending you warm hugs.

Cowboy, hoping headache is gone by the time you read this.

Missing you all something awful.   Hugs..............................

Hey Guys,

Back in Minnesota where it is 70 degrees........lol.

Yesterday morning, the day of funeral, the temp was -18 in North Dakota.  My brother drove all night to get to ND from Wisconsin and ran into some bad weather in Minnesota, had to wait 2 hours on freeway to have an accident cleared ahead of them.......................then he ran out of gas.  DAH, he is older than me and has not learned you never let your gas tank go below 1/2 in the winter.

He lucked out and was delivered gas by a service station for $3.00/gallon.  Maybe he is not so dumb as gas was cheaper on the freeway then at the station.  Oh My!

Well Lyn  you have the first ice storm....congratulations for getting one ahead of us. :)

Hugs to All

Kota,

I will be sure to send the snow your way as what is wind without the snow........not a blizzard. tongue   Here is one for ya kota and anyone who lives in the big city.

_____________________________________________________________

Ole and Lena was at the kitchen table for the usual morning cup of coffee and listening to a weather report coming from the radio.

"There will be 3 to 5 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. All vehicles should be parked on the odd-numbered side of the streets today to facilitate snowplows," the radio voice declared.

"Oh, gosh, OK," said Ole, getting up, bundling up and heading outside to dutifully put his car on the odd-numbered side of the street.

Two days later, Ole and Lena were at morning coffee when the radio voice said:

"There will be 2 to 4 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your vehicles on the even-numbered side of the streets."

Ole got up from his coffee as before. He bundled up, shuffled off, and put his car on the even-numbered side of the street.

A few days later, the couple was at the table when the radio voice declared:

"There will be 6 to 8 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the ..." Just then, the power went out.

"Park it where?" Ole asked in the dark, "What should I do?"

"Aw, to heck with them, Ole," Lena said, "Don't worry about it today. Just leave the car in the garage."

Good Morning  from Nanook of the North............4 degrees outside but the weather woman says it is going to get  cold.  Is she nuts, 4 degrees is cold.  I can't believe she went to school and is paid mega bucks to look good in a parka and predict it is "going to get cold."

Going to follow Lyn's lead and go to town, yes I did say go to town.........in  my sleigh, and do some shopping.

Cowboy, I weigh more than Lyn.............ho ho ho. I sent you a message my Alaskan friend.............lol.

Take care all and stay warm.

Kitt that was a great story, the only reason I'm asking about size is to know which size saddles to bring.

Lyn is Catt still taking riding lessons? I think you will like my horses as they are pretty well trained for trail riding

and can you believe it we still got no snow and it's been in the mid 20's (nice and warm for an Alaskan winter EH) hope y'all enjoying all the snow Now quit hogging it all and send it back here jeez i can't even go riding my snow machines yet!!!!!!!!!!!

Sending snow your direction, so be warned. yeah

Big Sis, I think you should keep your ice storms, you  can make snow cones with the ice. Hugs for you and stay warm.

Keep the embers hot everyone.

Dang! Can we have some of your snow? This drought is a killer. Booo.

So happy to be back and to hear about all your fun yeah and festivities and positivities (ok made that word up!!)

Hey there Meg,

It is snowing and icy on the roads.  Come to Minnesota, the land of 10,000 frozen lakes this time of year.

I am a blondes of sorts so I can share this story, no offense to blondes :-)

______________________________________________________________

It was snowing heavily and blowing to the point that visibility was almost zero when the little blonde got off work at Wal-Mart. She made her way to her car and wondered how she was going to make it home. She sat in her car while it warmed up and thought about her situation. She finally remembered her daddy's advice that if she got caught in a blizzard she should wait for a snow plow to come by and follow it. That way she would not get stuck in the snow drift. This made her feel much better and sure enough in a little while a snow plow went by and she started to follow it.

As she followed the snow plow she was feeling very smug as they continued and she was not having any problem with the blizzard conditions. After quite sometime had passed she was somewhat surprised when the snow plow stopped, the driver got out, came back to her car and signaled for her to roll down her window. The snowplow driver wanted to know if she was all right, since she had been following him for a long time.

She said she was fine and told him her daddy's advice to follow a snow plow when caught in a blizzard. The driver replied that it was fine with him and she could continue if she wanted, but he was done with the Wal-Mart parking lot and was going over to Kmart next.

Hugs to all

Lyn, and the rest of your hilarious posting friends, HELLO!

I am admitting to being a "butt-inski" into others' business, (a term my dad used to always use.) I was just cruising around the forum looking for a good site for anxiety/agoraphobia which is a major issues for me and getting worse, as it does in a cyclical and unpredictable fashion, and found you folks here. I completely forgot what I was looking for after reading may of your recent posts. Good snickers, and some great laughs, and some jokes/stories to copy and pass on to my blonde friends, my wanna be blonde friends, and all the others who just enjoy a good chuckle!

Therefore, although I am not a contributor to this site, I am compelled to pass on a few things: Where I am there is currently 9 inches of snow, more coming down, and absolutely gorgeous, not melting as the temperatures are hovering in the low 20's. I wish we could post photos on here as the view from my deck to the Wallowa and Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon is absolutely astoundingly beautiful!

I "discovered" several years ago during a particularly wretched time, after Christmas decorations needed to come down, that I so very much enjoyed the little white lights I had indoors around windows. Later, I put away the other seasonal decor but always left up my "magic lights." Coming home from work, or wherever, I would leave the house lights off and rely on the soft and comforting glow of the magic lights. I kept them up many years, only taking them down when I moved to care for my parents. Mom (who had Alzheimer's) couldn't stand the lights, reminding her, in the glow and reflection of other windows, of planes, hundreds of airplanes diving toward the house. Naturally they came down! My delight of little white magic lights has stayed and admittedly an obsession has grown. Last week, after the big turkey feasting, snow playing etc. I got out the lights. I seriously got out the lights! There are now enough white lights indoors, around the windows that no lamps or any sort are necessary as the sun goes down. I LOVE IT! And, I think the tiny local airport may like that I am sending out a beacon of sorts to warn small planes they are nearing the mountains!!

I was up until 4 a.m. doing some computer work, (research AGH!) and what is usually a tedious task became quite bearable with my white glowing lights! I get mesmerized by them. My daughter and some friends are traveling in SE Asia and have been there already for several months. I sent her some photos of the house, highlighting all the lights, and sent them off to her. She was able to retrieve them when going to a small, very rudimentary internet "cafe" (term being very lightly used) in Northern most Laos where they are doing some serious mountain trekking. I got a response from her which was hilarious. She could hardly write, it seemed, just laughing with me about this obsession with white lights, how pretty everything looked, that instead of all my snow and cold weather she was enjoying 80 degrees and just now with the rainy season ending there, much less humidity. Then she attached more photos of where she is and the difference in our photos made me laugh even more. She is in the rural wilds of a remote and lushly green, poverty stricken area of Laos where there are not only little white magic lights, but usually no lights at all.

Anyway, just a long note to let you know your site and your comments boosted my spirits this morning.
And as for you, Lyn, you MUST eat. You sound no larger than the footrest in front of my sofa!!! Enjoy those sundaies, especially if they are giving you strength back and so that you can become the undercover cowboy that you have so completely left hidden from the regular site I visit with you on!

Have a good day, thanks for the uplifting stories, your fun message exchanges, and a necessary boost to the spirit (it's not dark yet so the white lights aren't able to be comforting yet!)
Linda (undercover snoop....)
