Hello everyone. I am very anxious right now. Really worried. I cant remember if I posted it on this forum or not, but I have a doc appt tomorrow morning with my Ortho. My mom talked to his nurse and she said it sounded like I had Fibro, and that he should be able to dx me, if not he can refer me to someone who can. But, she said he would probably be able to, and if he does, he could give me something to help! Thats very exciting since I have been waiting for 4 years to find out what is wrong with me.

But, I am really nervous about going. I hate going to the doctor because everytime I have ever went they always say they cant help me and send me to another doc who does the same. Needless to say, I ended up with a long list of docs who have done absolutely nothing for me. I am also scared he wont want to dx me. What if he wants to send me to someone else...AGAIN. I cant handle going through that again. I just want him to tell me tomorrow, but I am very scared he wont be able to. I have been waiting for this day for 4 years. I dont want to post-pone it when I am so close.

I probably wont sleep any tonight. And thinking about it in the morning will probably make me sick. I have thought about it most of today. But, yesterday and today have been really good days! I was able to go to school no problem! I am going to try my best to keep my mind off of it. Also, when I go, I am not going to be expecting anything. I have learned that when I go to the doc not to expect anything, that way when they turn me down and cant help me, it doesnt crush me as bad.

Well, I have to start working now to get my mind off of it in time to get some sleep. I will let you guys know how it goes tomorrow. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi there,

I understand your nervousness over your appt tomorrow, but you are going to get through it just fine.  I think you got it right in your last paragraph, you've got to keep your mind busy for a while, keep it occupied and keep the "what if" thinking away.  And going into your appt. with no expectations is the best thing, you can't change the outcome by worrying anyway!  I am glad that you've had a couple of good days and that school has been easier for you!  Please let me know how it goes for you.  Try to get some sleep.  Wishing you the best!

Tennis,

It is normal for you to be nervous about your appointment. I agree with Junebug, you don't know what the future holds and it is better to go in with little or no expectation. Even if you have a feeling with how things might turn out. I just wanted to wish you the best, and I hope your appointment goes well.

Hey TeNNis

Your human...........who hooooooooo. Your one of us, is that not great?  You have the right to feel nervous about going to the physicians office after all you want answers and you may get them or you may get tests, but it is usually normal to feel anxious.

Just try to stay in the moment and do what I do, just keep thinking by bedtime the day of the appointment it will all be behind you.

Gentle Hugs my friend.

Yep, you're human. I don;t kow a single person that does not escalate about Dr. appts & test results - even those without anxiety. Slow down - remain present. Get the information!

I have sign I made above my PC that says "Get the information 1st - then make an informed decision. Listen & respond don't react".

Maybe this wil help you too.

Long story short...he dx me with Fibro. Put me on Lyrica. 75mg twice a day for 1 week. Then, week 2 it goes to 150mg twice daily. Then, week 3 and 4 it goes to 225mg twice daily. Thats a whole month. I have to go back to him the first of Jan to tell him whether or not it worked and to find out where I go from there.

I am very excited I finally found and I am getting some form of help. I was very nervous about taking the meds, but I have taken 2 so far. I guess I will know in the next couple weeks. I am just hoping I dont have any bad side effects. If not, I will be ok! But, I am very happy about all of it!

Thank you guys for being here for me! I will keep you all posted on how it goes. Thanks!

Thanks. I have talked to her once.

But, I have noticed a difference since starting Lyrica. I sleep better at night, which makes me feel better during the day! That is great! And very new to me! But, it also causes me to be very drowsy and sleepy, which I will hopefully get over, if not, I can live with that in exchange to sleeping better and not hurting! So, there is no giving up for due to side-effects! So far, it is going good. I cant wait to see what happens when I up the dosage this week! That will be interesting!

But, I am very confident that it is really helping me and it will get even better! Which I cant imagine. I also think it has helped with some anxiety. Although, I am not sure how...but today I went to Petco, as a P.A.W.S (Pets Are Worth Saving) volunteer. No anxiety. I played with 2 puppies in a pen for like 4 hours. And I talked to people like a thousand people who walked by shopping. I still didnt feel any anxiety! Today has been a very good day! I also woke up this am to take my med and I stayed awake, because I felt like I had already slept and wasnt tired anymore!!!! This was totally new to me!!!!

So, today has been very good! I am very excited to find out if uping the dosage will take away all of my pain! ((((Crossing my fingers))))

Thanks!! Have a Great rest of the Weekend!! yeah

Hey TeNNis,

That is terrific that your doing so well.  I would imagine the fatigue sx will wear off as you adjust to the meds.

You go and kudos to you my friend.

Gentle Hugs

Thanks. I am hoping they wear off as I get more used to it. But, I dont mind it really. Its a small price to pay for a bit of relief on my part. Less pain, more sleep....I dont mind the side-effects!

I'm so glad that you have finally been diagnosed and given meds.  Nothing raises the spirits like hope and it sounds like you have that now.  I hope the side effects of your meds are easy to handle, although it sounds like you have a very positive attitude about it and that goes a long way.  Keep us all posted as to how you are doing.  I truly wish you all the best!
