i'm only 19 and I have really bad social anxiety. I can't go anywhere alone-shopping, into school, into work, anywhere at all it doesnt even make a difference. I can't stand it anymore because I always have the feeling of people staring at me and I dont know why. I get embarrased when people see me getting picked up from places or go anywhere where Im' alone. Do anti-depressants treat social anxiety?

Hello, this is Kitt and Welcome to the A & P Forum.  We are glad to have you with us.

There are some of the AD's that will help with anxiety. This is where I would suggest that you see your physician and have a good physical and talk about your situation.  You may benefit from some one on one therapy to help you get past the anxiety.

I would try setting small goals for myself if I were you.  Don't try to overcome all your anxieties at once.  Focus on one place you want to be able to go without the phobia.  May it is to the shopping mall for 30 minutes.

Hoping this gets you started on the road to feeling better about you.
