Mine never does...when I have one I call my surgeon...my gi isn't even in on my treatment plan when there are abscesses/fistulas involved. My surgeon will usually put me on flagyl after he drains it...
Do NOT do a CT guided drainage for the abscess!!! They do not work, and I speak from experience. Your abscess needs to drained and cleaned out in an OR by an experienced colorectal surgeon....

Have you thought about the possibility of a fistula to the bladder? If you do indeed have one, it would constantly be dumping bacteria into your bladder, and thus the UTI that you can't get rid of....
