30 year old male osteoporosis in knees

So my wife finally talked me into getting my knees looked at after months of pain. I went to a walk in clinic and they ordered the x-rays. Osteoporosis at 30 years old plus I'm male which I've heard is even more rare. I've done a lot of reading and honestly I feel like this has to be some sort of a hormone problem. I had my parathyroid checked about 2 years ago and my calcium blood tests are always perfect and I just had one a month ago. I've been feeling really crapty for a couple of years now. Tired all the time and weak. Stomach hurts constantly and my feet, knees, wrists and neck constantly pop and crack and hurt horribly. I'm slightly overweight and have a physically demanding job. What the hell is causing this!?!? I have an appt with a Ortho specialist coming up but I want to have ideas as to what to ask about.
Hi Shadowsfall, I am a little confused, you say the xrays showed osteoporosis? Or did you mean to type osteoarthritis, there is a big difference between the two conditions. Osteoarthritis is a wear & tear type of arthritis & part of the natural aging process. It can hit someone 30 years old, sometimes family history can play a role or over use & injury. My daughter ran track in school, both of her knees are bad & she is young too.

Since you have other symptoms listed I urge you to get established with a primary physician. Walk in clinics are ok for the minor situations that need medical attention if the regular is not available. It sounds like you need to have a good physical done with a primary dr.

Let us know what the ortho has to say, hopefully you will get some answers.

The report says "degenerative osteoporosis since last scan in 2012". I had x-rays done then as well for an injury and they can see the progression I guess. I'm really leaning towards this all being some kind of hormonal issue whether testosterone or parathyroid or something else but like I said my blood calcium is always perfect and my PTH was perfect 2 years ago when it was checked.
Again, I urge you to get established with a good primary care physician. Since this has shown up in your knees, you really need to have a bone density test. This is how they detect osteoporosis & to what extent. You need this checked to see if you have it anywhere else. You are young to have this show up unless, you have underlying conditions. It can be corrected if caught early enough.

I suggest that you check out some excellent medical sites & read up on osteoporosis. Take care.
