I have been involved w/ a group of 12 people (both women and men) in our city called the "Community Breast Cancer Project". Our dream has been to open a house for anyone in Central Missouri that is diagnosed w/ bc. We have worked very hard to raise monies. Had numerous fundraisers (some worked well...other ideas needed to be flushed..lol) In August we found "the house". It is over 100 years old and is perfect! Well, now it is after we have completely remodeled it..including having to have all the wiring redone before it would pass inspection. One of our biggest fundraisers has been our Mother's Day 5K Walk/Run. This year we will have over 200 participants. But the most exciting thing is that the Race will begin and end at our Community Breast Cancer House! I am putting the link to our site below. It will give you all an idea of what our organization is about. Hopefully next week I will be able to post some pictures.

Hi Ellen! Yes, I agree. That is a lot of walking or running but I have NEVER done either! lol My feet won't allow me to walk that much.
The walk/run was a huge success. We had over 240 entries. 40 more than last year! We raised over $5,000.00 and the money is still coming in. My 11 yo granddaughter, Emma, ran the race (after a 7:30 am soccer game) and took first place in her age division and came in 22nd overall!
I had hope to post some pics but for some reason the cd's that were made don't work. grrrrrrr

Deb, that is wonderful. I am a native of Missouri, and should I get down to Jeff City, I will make it a point to see the place. I have an aunt who lives there, and a few friends, so it is not out of the realm of possibility at all.

Bev: Who is your aunt and where does she live? I would love to meet you. Let me know when you will be in the area. Jeff City is a nice town. Everyone says that it is a city w/ a small town mentality. lol Esp when the legislature is in session. We are very proud of the house. If I can ever get the darn cd to download I will post some pics.
