Hi Selanne8 ~ It's great to see you back! It's always good to hear that someone who's had an ablation already and they're doing great, comes on board to help others going through similar experiences!!

I've been doing ok. I haven't had any major tachy since the ablation...only about 120 or so. I have been having a lot of chest pain. Today is ten days since the procedure...I didn't think I'd be having so much chest pain still. I have an appt with my regular cardio tomorrow. I'm hoping he can help me with it. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Lil...I am sorry you are still continuing to have problems after your ablation.
I will give you some hope though in that my last ablation was my second attempt as well. For a week I felt fine. Then my tachycardia started again. Spiked at 138 a few times. I called my doc who said that it is normal to feel these runs and some discomfort for a few weeks afterwards. The nerve tries to sometimes find another pathway to come out of...it generally will just fizzle out. So I had some tachy for a few days and (knock on wood) it's gone now.
I really hope yours disappears too and your chest discomfort goes away.
I had a very....ummm....interesting doctor appt. I told my cardio what happened yesterday. I also had some tachy today...got to 143. That lasted a while and I told him that. He listened to my heart and told me I was definatly having tachy again. He put me back on the Verapamil and now I'm gonna take it morning and evening.
He said I'm a difficult case. (My pcp could have told him that. ) For most ppl, a second ablation isn't even necessary and for those who need it, it usually works. I asked him about my heart rate...at this point, I don't know what's bad or not. I've had my pulse up to 230 so 140 is slow to me anymore. He told me that is my pulse is above 120 and stays there, it will damage my heart. If the drugs don't work, then I'd need another ablation. He isn't sure that would work though. He thinks if the drugs don't work, then my best option would be to ablate the node completely and put in a pacemaker. That's not really what I wanted to hear. I do hope the verapamil will work. I don't want a pacemaker and I really don't want to damage my heart. Arg! Not the news I needed the day before my birthday.
Jules, thank you so much for those words of encoragement. I needed to hear that. I do hope these are just temporary runs. What happened this morning kinda worried me with how long it lasted. I'm trying to stay optimistic about this. I do hope this worked.

Teri, I'm glad he's staying on top of this too. It's not exactly what I wanted to hear, especially the day before my birthday. "Happy Birthday! You might need a pacemaker." yuck. lol At least I'm being kept informed. That's one of my biggest problems with some doctors (particularly my old cardios) was that they didn't feel like telling me what's going on. That drives me nuts. I also joked around a bit with this doc this time. He joked right back...that made me feel good about him.

Teri - My MRI is tomorrow. It is to screen for any other heart diseases such as ARVD. 10% of people that had or have RVOT-VT like I had, end up with ARVD in the future. They are optimistic that I dont have it though....thankfully! It is hereditary.
Lil - I had some scary worse than ever before runs of tach a week after my second ablation. It went on for hours!!! I ended up in Emergency and of course it stopped as soon as I got into the hospital.
Jules, I hope that all turns out well with the results of your MRI! I have never had an MRI, but my mother did, and she is claustrophobic. I can't recall if they sedated her at all or not. That has to be scary!
Lil, sorry I missed your birthday. Hope your day was a good one, and wishing you better health and lots of happiness in the year ahead! Hugs, Kathy
Happy Grandmommy to Amanda, Alayna, Wyatt and Ezekiel
Jules, I'm a bit of a claustrophobic as well and I've had to have 3 MRI's!~I definitely do understand-Kathy, you'll have to ask your Mom sometime how she did it! The first one I was almost in tears before it was over-no sedation. The 2nd one, was an open MRI and it went great!-my husband even got to come in with me. :) The 3rd was the closed one and I took a .5mg. Klonopin before hand and was fine!
I'll be keeping an eye out for your results, Jules!

Lil, I'm sorry you're having all these problems. It is hard, getting news you don't want. Is there still a chance that things will subside as a result of the ablation? How have you got on with Verapamil before?
I hope you enjoyed your birthday, despite all this!
