Hi, I just got a copy of an EKG I had done two months ago that my dr told me was normal. The machine reported an abnormal ECG, cannot rule out anterior infarct, age undetermined. The dictator crossed it out and wrote late transition, otherwise normal. I have also recently been diagnosed with possible thyroid cancer and am having surgery next week. My thryroid levels are are normal, so I am wondering if my dr should be paying more attention to my heart? Help, worried enough.
From what I understand the computer generated reports they give out today with the EKG is commonly wrong. It takes a cardiologist to read an EKG properly and there are alot of variations. It is a screening tool more than anything. My EKG computer report is always abnormal too. In fact it suggests a possible earlier heart attack. My cardiologist did further testing and told me I am fine. The further testing showed that the results are from the way my heart sits in my chest cavity. My heart is structurally normal though and no prior heart attacks! :) GOOD NEWS!!!!!
