an icky day

hey!
i just can't seem to get off that dang toilet this morning!!!  (well long enough to write this at least!)  i have been down lately, and i caught some sort of sinus bug, but this morning it is all about the bathroom--and i have a bit of puking going on too (which is gross).
just wanted to vent, and now i have to go...yes, to the bathroom...

How do you all make yourself feel better during these times?

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Hi bunny,
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling yucky. I often get all kinds of problems when I get a cold or the flu. I am usually in the bathroom a lot too. Just make sure that you are replenishing your fluids but only when your stomach is settled, otherwise you'll just lose the fluids again. I wish I had a better answer for you but wanted to give you a ((hug)).

***HUG****
Try drinking some ginger tea (or chamomile, or any tea that makes you feel good). You may also want to try Sprite or Ginger Ale.
I'm sorry you're feeling so terrible. Hang in there an let us know how you're doing.

Sorry bunny!  You're having a rough go of it lately.  Think with the puking you've got a touch of an intestinal "bug?" (unless you're a regular puker, and in that case...oh man, I feel so bad for you!)

I second the hydration issue; especially when you're yakkin', because that can really mess with your electrolyte balance.  To make myself feel better on garden-hose days, I make sure I have a stupid magazine like the Weekly World News ("Fur Coat Comes Alive and Bites Rich Widow to Death!" etc.), a hot bath waiting, some jazz music on the CD player, and lotsa lotsa baby wipes.

I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy.  Let us know how you're doing!

thanks.
no i am not normally a puker... but i think it slowed down, it has been a few hours...
but i think i should have stock options with how many baby wipes i buy...
and today is beautiful outside...
yeah, i think i got some sort of fluish bug yuck...
and i am still going!!!! all i have eaten is rice!!!!
i wish i could take a bath--that would rock! but i got a crappy stand up shower stall...
i love the weekly world news!!!! my secret dream job is to be one of their writers... either that or sit in a room and critique comercials and try to make them more comical...
thanks ladies!

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Bunny,
Make sure you don't dive into a big meal yet... I know I can't after I have been sick. I usually will take little steps in getting back to eating so I don't cause that yucky feeling however I don't get as bad as I would if I didn't eat anything at all because I'll put a little in my stomach. Maybe try some crackers today... don't overdo it.
Take Care

What a bummer! I'm sorry, bunny. I agree with dbab, take it slow with food. I'm sure you already know but eat light and eat comfort food. Mashed potatoes are great and so is plain chicken or turkey.
Guess you must have caught a bug, huh? Take lots of vitamins (if your tummy can handle it).
Hope you feel better for this weekend. :)

thank you guys so much--really, thanks...
i got through a six hour day today! i was sick for a bunch of it, but they (co-workers) are beginning to understand. we even discussed the possibility that maybe i have different hours on days i feel bad and what not... (remember i am still new to all this, still getting some of the tests and stuff...then again some of you are still going through testing!!!) it just seems weird to me that after years of not feeling so great all the time and managing it--could then abruptly go to feeling like utter crap so fast... i guess stress did me in and my body is pissed off at being neglected!!!
thanks again--i totally appreciate it!
--bunny
oh and yeah, small portions--definetly!

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Bunny, the same thing happened to me. I went years feeling like crap off and on, and then all of a sudden it got WAY worse. My IBS (i didn't know it then) got 10x's worse when my boyfriend and I broke up and I started a new job with a 35 mile commute. STRESS!!!
It's good that your coworkers know your troubles. Hopefully they are understanding.
Feel better....

THIRTY-FIVE MILES
Holy Crap!!!! i hope it is an excellent job, wow, wow. i just got to take two buses and a subway and a short walk and i thought that kinda sucked--- you, my dear have won the prize!
sorry that dude gave you IBS (ok he didn't give it to you--you know what i mean).
my ibs made its debut to me while on a relaxing run in the park... i since have hazed many a trees and undergarments... but alas i was stressed out when this all began...
oh and so far, this morning i am doing okay--starving, and tired--but i think today may be good!!!
thanks again,
bunny

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Hey Bunny! How are you feeling?

Yup, I have quite a commute. My job is great (considering I never got my degree) so I'll take what I can get. It sure is tough on me though. Eventually things will have to change or I will go crazy or end up sick as a dog.
I hope you are feeling MUCH better...

(my husband never got his degree, and he makes more than me!!)
could you move so your commute is easier? the anxiety of my commute is really hard on me, i hate having to go to the bathroom and being stuck on a train...

thanks again for caring...

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Hi Bunnybabe,

Hope you're feeling better.  I have been up since 3.30am and spent most of my time in the bathroom.  I got to the point where I thought about just trying to fall asleep on the toilet instead of having to keep getting up!  Got another couple of hours to go at work and then I'm going home and going back to bed to catch up on a few hours.

I hope this doesn't sound bad, but it's nice to know there are other people out there who are suffering as much as me - i felt like I was the only one in the world because no-one seems to understand!

I hope you feel much better soon and the commute doesnt get to you too much!

ha, i have to admit when i read others' post about their crappy days and accidents i feel better too!!!--i went such a long time thinking i was the only 26 year old contemplating buying adult diapers--i was SO embarressed at my attacks (accidents, flare-ups, what have you...) that is why i love this forum, in a strange way i feel normal here, makes crapping in the woods moments a little less traumatic... (sorry-graphic) (and not that you all are in adult diapers... i am just speculating that at one point or another someone out there i know has thought, "hmm diapers...")

i have fallen asleep on the toilet, if i am in there for more than 45 min my husband comes in to make sure i am ok.

yeah, today i have been going a lot too, i was up all night also--totally sucks! all you want to do is sleep, and your body just won't let you!!

i am glad you are going home soon--i am thinking today i will work from home (i just worked out a part time deal with my job--i have been really sick lately, i was just diagnosed a few months ago, but i am also waiting on a Celiac diagnosis... but since july i have been incredibly sick--out of nowhere--(with some good days thrown in) , so my bosses and i discussed me doing part time for the next couple of weeks, just so i can adjust...) but days like this, i would rather work from home where the toilet is mine, my bathroom is warm, and my dog is there to comfort me...

i will be moving soon, hopefully where the commute will be easier, but my husband works in the opposite direction to where i work... so we will see...
take care of yourself!!

FEEL BETTER EVIE!!

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Hey girls,
I agree with you... I used to feel alone. I am so thankful to Peter for starting this website. It is sad but true what 'they' say "Misery loves company." Although I would never wish IBS on anyone.
Bunny, I'm glad you are feeling better but I'm sorry its still not so good. Hang in there.
I have thought about moving closer to my job but I can't. I have a house with my sister and I can't make her sell it, nor can I afford to have 2 places. I thought about getting her a roommate but that is not realistic if I want to come home and spend time with my family (my parents live down the street). My situation sucks. I'm stuck with my commute.
You girls take care.

So now it's my turn.... I just had breakfast and immediately had to run to the bathroom.  sad    It wasn't quite D but I'm thinking it may be headed in that direction.  Ugh, I hate being like this at work.  I feel like crap.  I'm going to try some tea to see if I can settle things.  I hope you girls are better.
