An Odd Morning

Hello everyone,

Had a funny experience this morning. Woke up to find I was having one of my more protracted attacks, which isn't exactly rare these days. Usually they're fairly mild and I can shake them off eventually and be on my merry way. Unfortunately, this one suddenly worstened and I almost lost consciousness.  I also think (though I was a bit out of it, obviously) that my throat muscles were going into spasm and I was struggling to breathe. Also of possible note, black spots in front of my eyes. Thankfully it wore off after a minute. But it occurred to me afterwards that if I really couldn't breathe properly, my life might have been in danger. And I'm not sure what to do if another one comes. I live alone and fully intend living alone for as long as I can, but that leaves me a bit vulnerable. I suppose I should tell my consultant - I'm seeing her next month anyway - but all she'll probably do is carry on increasing the dosage of assorted drugs which don't do much good anyway.
Sorry to ramble on but I wanted to share this and don't want to dump it on my family just yet. Anyway, take care everyone.
Regards,

Andrew
Can you call your consultant now instead of waiting to see her next month? I think that is wise since this one seems different than your typical!

I have heard neuros say that even the turning blue is not that bad since it quickly fades and breathing returns to normal once the seizure is done. it sure does not FEEL that way when you are aware of not breathing right. I would think that was very frightening!

Hoping you can get more control soon!

Thanks for the advice, MandiAnn and Kayakmom. You're both right of course, I should see the doctor asap, I'm just not sure what good she'd be. But you don't know till you ask, I guess. The seizure dog's an intriguing idea - sadly, I really, really don't like dogs. Can you get a seizure cat? or a seizure hamster? The benefits might be limited but every little helps.

Andrew
